After 35 years of tradition the John Natsoulas Center for the Arts is proud to continue the largest sculptural ceramics conference in the world. Conceived by the need for dialogue and direct interaction between artists and students, CCACA 2022 brings the ultimate ceramic sculpture event to Davis, CA. Studio assistants are students who assist instructors and are responsible for maintaining the school’s standards for studio operation. They receive housing and meals and pay only a $5 application fee in Slideroom and a $25 non-refundable processing fee if selected.
Studio assistants are selected based on their knowledge of a working studio. In addition to 25–40 hours of work each week, studio assistants are required to work from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on the day before their session and may have some work to do on Friday after the session is over. Clay studio assistants have a work assignment on Saturday morning after the session and stay on campus Friday night.

Position Summary
Reporting to the board of directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for the overall leadership and administration of The Bray, including artistic direction, strategic programming, business operations, financial management, fundraising, community engagement, and equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives. The Executive Director will oversee the daily operations of the organization, providing leadership in the areas of program compliance, quality assurance, program efficiency, and fiscal integrity. They will manage staff and be responsible for the direction and execution of all programs, including artists in residence, visiting artists, education, exhibitions, sales gallery, and ceramic supplies.
The Executive Director will be actively in engaged in the world of contemporary ceramic art and will work to attract top artists. This person will activate their broad knowledge of and passion for ceramics and contemporary art to deepen the Bray’s global impact and build on its more than 70 years of success. Serving as The Bray’s primary ambassador to the local, national, and international clay community, the Executive Director will inspire excellence and provide leadership to ensure the resources, systems, and structures are in place to meet The Bray’s strategic goals and community needs. The Executive Director will value and prioritize equity and diversity, creating an environment that is sustainably inclusive, while working creatively and collaboratively to build strong external relationships with individuals and institutions.

The Virginia A. Groot Foundation established the Virginia A. Groot Foundation Grant in 1988 so that a ceramic sculpture or sculpture artist may have the opportunity to devote a substantial period of time to the development of his or her work.
Eligibility: Each year the Virginia A. Groot Foundation offers grants to artists who have exceptional talent and demonstrated ability in ceramic sculpture or sculpture. Artists may be at any stage of career development, from emerging through mature. Applicants must be 21 years or older at the time of the application deadline. We welcome and encourage international applicants.
DEADLINE: February 1, 2022
AWARD INFO: Three grants (up to $50,000, $20,000, $10,000))
FEE: $5
WHO: Artists working in ceramic sculpture or sculpture. Artists may be at any stage of career development, from emerging through mature. Applicants must be 21 years or older at the time of the application deadline and not currently enrolled as a student.
