Loved this simple but super helpful trick that master plaster mold maker and bone china queen Noriko Masuda posted on her Instagram feed yesturday. She ran out of casting slip part way through the cast so added the mug to displace the liquid. Seems so obvious but in my years slip casting I didn’t think of it!

Kumbharwada. Potter hood.
This video is a tribute to the craft of pottery. It wishes to celebrate the potters, their lives, their homes, their ethics, their family ties and mostly their art.
According to them, they are among the last few generations of potters in India. They learnt their art from their elders but believe that their children will have a better future without the hardwork that they themselves do.
Making clay pots is a time consuming and tiring process, they say, with smiles on their faces.
The Heritage Crafts Association is at an exciting time in its growth, and is now seeking an Executive Director to oversee its day-to-day operations. The postholder will be tasked with championing and promoting heritage crafts knowledge, skills and practices as a vital part of the UK’s cultural heritage, supporting the existing and future craftspeople with whom these skills reside, and fostering a favourable political, legislative and funding environment to ensure these skills are safeguarded.
