PCA&M offers one 8-9 month artist residency in ceramics per program year. This opportunity runs from fall through spring. Our intention with the Ceramic Artist-in-Residence program is to continue to expose our ceramic community (both internal and the greater Pittsburgh area) to fresh new perspectives in technique and discipline within the ceramic arts, in turn also helping to create greater visibility for the participating artist.

The Opportunity
The Studio and Program Coordinator (SPC) is a critical role at Greenwich House Pottery (GHP) responsible for coordinating daily studio operations, supporting education programs, and supervising Technician and Program Assistants s TPAs. Reporting to either the Manager of Learning and Student Experience or the Studio Operations Manager (site dependent), this position ensures smooth workflows between education and operations across both GHP locations.
The Studio and Program Coordinator supports faculty, students, and staff by maintaining a safe and organized learning environment, overseeing program logistics, and coordinating internal communication. This is a customer and student facing role, and contributes to student experience, internal messaging, and organic social media efforts to foster a connected and informed GHP community. This position exists at two locations: 16 Jones Street and 80 Eighth Avenue (Chelsea). While both roles share a common core of responsibilities, the scope and emphasis vary based on site.
At the Chelsea studio, the Studio and Program Coordinator serves as the primary full-time staff presence on site, operating with a high degree of autonomy and day-to-day oversight. This role is the main point of contact for approximately five TPAs, as well as for faculty and students. In this smaller, more lightly staffed environment, the role leans more heavily toward technical and studio-based responsibilities alongside administrative coordination.
At the Jones Street studio, a larger and more complex facility, the Studio and Program Coordinator works within a more robust on-site management structure. This role supervises a larger team of approximately ten TPAs across both technical and administrative functions and focuses more heavily on coordination, scheduling, and program administration, with technical responsibilities primarily supported by the Operations Manager.

Baltimore Clayworks is pleased to announce a call for entries for Shino Odyssey. This is a juried exhibition celebrating the depth and diversity of Shino glazes. This exhibition invites artists to explore and showcase the vast possibilities of Shino, a glaze family known for its remarkable sensitivity to clay body, application, kiln atmosphere, and firing duration. All interpretations are encouraged. Selected artwork will be exhibited in our gallery and available for purchase.

Three early career artists will be selected for a one week residency at Empire of Dirt during the week of August 8 to 15, 2026.
What’s the residency about?

This residency is for earlier career artists who want to take their final artwork from nearly complete to ready for installation, or who want to learn how to consider the final installation at the beginning of a project.

Learn techniques for installing your work and troubleshooting those details that really matter at the very end of the creation process.

Have you been to an exhibition where the way the work attaches to the wall is more visible and glaring than the work itself? Have you made a small sculpture and don’t really want to put it on a plinth, but don’t have other ideas?

This is a time research, exchange, and reflection in a rural space without the distractions of daily life, so bring ideas for a project you want to start or bring artwork that you need to finish.

About the Facilitators Emily Neufeld and Marnie Temple
Emily Neufeld’s practice investigates place and the layers of memory and psychic history that accumulate in our material world. She is committed to examining her own Mennonite and Scottish settler colonial histories in understanding her relationship to this place as Indigenous land. She received her BFA from ECUAD in 2013. Emily is the installation technician at Gordon Smith Gallery.
Marnie Temple’s practice explores her lived experiences in relation to the aftermath of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. She is a Black biracial person who grew up in the Prairies before settling in the Kootenays and co-operating EoD with her partner. She recently received her MFA from ECUAD in 2025. Her experience with building materials comes from her work at the residency and the creation of the buildings at EoD.
