“To coincide with the centennial of Canadian Confederation,
the three-tiered order was established in 1967 as a fellowship that
recognizes the outstanding merit or distinguished service of Canadians
who make a major difference to Canada through lifelong contributions in
every field of endeavour, as well as the efforts by non-Canadians who
have made the world better by their actions. Membership is accorded to
those who exemplify the order’s Latin motto, desiderantes meliorem patriam, meaning “they desire a better country”, a phrase taken from Hebrews 11:16.[2]
The three tiers of the order are Companion, Officer, and Member;
specific individuals may be given extraordinary membership and deserving
non-Canadians may receive honorary appointment into each grade.”

are running a new session of THINK BIG! and Think Big 2 at the same
time! So if you missed out on

How does the E-Series work?
Each week Ben Carter or Molly Hatch host a themed
conversation built around a topic that will help you discover ways to
find new audiences, market your business and sell your work. These
interviews are available at your own pace and will be released once a
week for six consecutive weeks. After all the lectures have been posted,
you will STILL have an additional six weeks to access course
information and bonus materials to continue work AT YOUR OWN PACE!
Participants are encouraged to discuss the videos each
week with a prompted discussion group online. Through the discussion
board you can connect with other members of the series and reflect on
questions and new ideas that come up for you each week. Molly and Ben
will be watching the group discussions and joining in to add our
experience with the topic. The discussions are ongoing and accessible
throughout the entire series, so you can participate at your own pace,
regardless of your time zone.
In addition to the weekly interviews and discussions
downloadable worksheets will help you work through topics each week and
generate task lists for getting your goals achieved! The worksheets are
for you to keep and work through as you engage with the course material.
By the end of the six weeks, you will have gathered new thoughts and
ideas, and you will have a clear direction moving forward in your
creative business–on to BIG THINGS

The Long-Term Residency (September 1 – July 31)
is ideal for committed individuals interested in pursuing the
development of their professional, artistic careers. We accept
applications from emerging, post-bacc, post-grad, and artists with
equivalent educations. Individuals searching for the time, space, and
resources needed to explore new ideas and create work will enjoy
our friendly community and the rural mountainous setting. Accepted
residents will be provided with studio space, furnished private
apartments in a large house downtown, utilities, and a monthly stipend
in exchange for twenty hours of work per week at the Clay Center.
Responsibilities will include assisting in the retail operation of the
gallery, teaching community clay classes, as well as cleaning and
maintenance of the studio and gallery. Residents will be responsible for
personal living expenses, as well as all material and firing expenses.
The application deadline is February 1st annually.

The Salad Days Artist-in-Residence at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts is commissioned to produce 550 plates from indigenous earthenware for the Center’s annual Salad Days fundraising event – a community festival featuring locally sourced foods that draws hundreds of guests every year.
Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts is a small art residency center
located in mid-coast Maine. During the summer and fall months, artists
from across the country and beyond attend residencies at the Center that
vary in length from 1 to 6 weeks. During this time, artists live and
work alongside one another, sharing a large open-concept studio,
enjoying communal meals, and living on campus in shared or private
housing. The Salad Days artist holds a unique position at the Center,
with a focus on creating plates for Watershed’s largest fundraiser of
the year.
The artist is selected by a jury in late winter prior to their residency
and resides at Watershed for four to six months (typically between
mid-May and mid-September), producing plates for the following year’s
Salad Days. During the residency, the Salad Days artist receives housing
in a private room, all meals, a large studio, free materials and
firings, and a stipend of $500.
Watershed provides opportunities for the Salad Days artist to sell work
at events and to exhibit in group shows. Salad Days artist plates gain
broad exposure being featured both in Watershed print and online
publications, and in local and regional press and advertisements.
