CFile, the global community for ceramic creatives, is seeking a
part-time executive director to help our organization with fundraising.
We’re looking for a professional person who wants the challenge of
growing a small, but vibrant nonprofit.
The hours are half-day. Applicants must be residents of New Mexico, living preferably in or near Santa Fe.
Starting Sept. 1, the director will be responsible for managing CFile
Foundation and its fundraising program. Applicants must have some
experience working for art organizations. CFile will also consider
applications from suitably-qualified consultants.
The director may work from his or her home office (we do not believe in commuting) and he or she must be self-motivated.
To apply, please send a brief resume to CFile’s Chief Editor Garth Clark at [email protected].
Simon
Levin and Amy Smith are two artists that AKAR has represented
individually and then together in group invitationals with their
collaborative sets. On July 11th they will have a solo show entitled, Layered: Collaborations by Simon Levin & Amy Smith.
This is a true dialogue between pieces, a literal back
and forth of making, refining and developing, a conceptual and formal
evolution evidenced in the paired pieces, where visions combine while
the essence of each is upheld, creating something new, unexpected and
compelling.
Amy’s calming porcelain pieces are cold and crisp while
Simon’s wood fired work is full of dramatic surface, but what they have
in common is the showcasing of raw clay. Once their pieces are paired
they reflect off each other and create something surprising and
beautiful. Amy and Simon’s collaborative pairings are unique not only
because of the contrast within their sets, but unlike most
collaborations these two have never worked on the same piece or even
step foot in the same studio.

I’d heard Ben’s voice for quite a while before getting to meet him in 2013 at Arrowmont. The Tales of Red Clay Rambler are a constant in my studio. They inspire, challenge me and keep me up to date with current artists and how they are affecting the art world, the market and our lives.
Ben had somehow convinced me to be a guest on the podcast. An honor I wasn’t convinced I was worthy of, but an experience I won’t soon forget. An insightful and extensively knowledgeable interviewer, Ben is a blessing in our field. His generosity and time and efforts to bring us this amazing podcast should be acknowledged. So if you can please help support Ben through his Kickstarter project to bring us another season of The Tales of a Red Clay Rambler.
Help fund the third season of this thought-provoking podcast exploring the lives of creative people around the world.
