Executive Director
Northern Clay Center has been an innovative cornerstone of the ceramic arts. Renowned for visionary leadership, compassionate teamwork, and unsurpassed hospitality, NCC is now seeking new executive leadership.

The executive director is responsible for leading all facets of Northern Clay Center (NCC) operations that address the Center’s mission of advancing the ceramic arts for artists, learners, and the community through education, exhibitions, and artist services. This includes, but is not limited to, providing artistic vision, strategic planning, and organizational management. The executive director provides oversight and leadership for the Center’s three primary program areas (education, exhibitions, and artist services) within the overall policies established by the Board of Directors. The executive director works closely with senior staff members to realize the goals and objectives of NCC’s Strategic Framework designed and implemented in 2017.

Embolden is an annual Festival challenging ageism and building respect for Elders. It provides unique opportunities for all community members, service providers and Elders to learn from each other about making cultural change happen. It recognises the capacity of Elders to co-design, co-produce and co-lead innovations. Other innovative features of Embolden include:

  1. Learning from each other – cross cultural respect
  2. Engaging approaches to learning  eg: Market of Great Ideas, Fashion Parade
  3. Building momentum for real cultural change (nudge theory)
  4. Capacity building – resourcing community leaders
  5. Recognising Geriactivism – the role of Elders in creating social change
  6. Working towards a Gerontocracy – increased governance by Elders.

job posting: Part-time School Director | Ceramic League of Miami (Miami, FL)

The Ceramic League of Miami (CLM) is a nonprofit, ceramics arts organization founded in 1950. CLM is seeking a ceramic artist with program coordination and teaching experience to be its School Director. The School Director provides leadership, management and coordination for CLM’s School which offers its members and the public varied classes in the area of ceramic arts. The Director is responsible for overall class offerings and administration of the School. The Director works collaboratively with the Board of Directors to ensure smooth operation of the School, develop classes that reflect the interests of the members and execute other School related initiatives and duties as designated by the Board of Directors that fulfill the mission of the organization.

Duties and responsibilities include:
• Recruit and hire skilled and capable teachers.
• Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Bylaws and Board policies.
• Conduct new teacher orientations on the procedures and policies, safety of students, and maintenance of equipment.
• Manage and track class registration, enrollment rosters, and payments
• Work collaboratively with appropriate personnel to ensure the facility, clay-related equipment and tools necessary for the proper functioning of the school are in good operating condition and clay and glaze inventory are maintained.
• Assist the Publicity Committee Chair to publicize classes and other School-related activities.
• Prepare a financial report at the close of each session and cumulative year-end report and at the end of the fiscal year.
• Develop and monitor annual school budget. Manage school budget and make recommendations to the Board of Directors.
• Foster positive, collaborative, and harmonious working relationships.

Qualifications:
• BFA in ceramics or equivalent experience
• Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience
• Program management or coordination experience
• Extensive knowledge of and experience in ceramics
• Excellent organizational skills and high level of attention to detail
• Strong supervisorial and interpersonal communications skills
• Commitment to maintaining positive, respectful relationships with a variety of people.
• Possess a natural curiosity and desire to build upon the past.

Reports to: Executive Board of Directors and Chair of the School Committee
Terms of Employment: Part-time (10-15hrs/wk). Salary: $10K plus bonus. Salary, bonus, and work reviewed annually by the Executive Board of Directors
