Sophie Moran produces ceramic tableware and unique pieces that sell in galleries and retail outlets throughout Australia.

The Quarry collection features high fired, functional, stoneware
vessels with flecked, matte glazes in a palette of earthy colours. While
recognising the influence of traditional Japanese pottery, this work
also aims to capture the sun bleached character of the Australian
outback, bringing a sense of the land into contemporary homes, for use
with our modern and multi-cultural meals. sophiemoran.info

Story Shed is a video production company based in Melbourne, formed
by multi-media producer Nadia Hume and award-winning cameraman Matt
Jasper. Together, Nadia and Matt have over 40 years experience in
broadcast media working in Australia and internationally.

The music is by local Melbourne band Ponyface. Pony Face’s music is a
sonic kaleidoscope, encompassing psych/surf guitars, doom drums, bass
lines moulded from rock bottom and sampled textural layers which have
become synonymous with a loud spacial sound. ponyface.com.au

The video was shot by Matt Jasper using a Canon 1DC with Zeiss prime
lenses. It was edited in Avid Media Composer and graded using Deluts
within Davinci Resolve. The video was produced by Nadia Hume for Story
Shed Melbourne.

Call for Emerging and Established Ceramic Artists and Potters Now Open!

Emerging and established artists from Vancouver Island and the Gulf
Islands are invited to submit their sculptural and/or functional ceramic
works for consideration in the Salt Spring Island Ceramic Awards. In
the inaugural year, $4200 are offered in prizes.

Artists are encouraged to submit works comprised of clay, whose
practice demonstrates originality, creativity and technical skill.
The competition is open to both emerging and established artists. Artists are anonymous to a three-member jury.
Online submissions are open from January 15 to May 31, 2016

Ceramic Studio Practice and Arts Publishing Internship

Tandem Ceramics and Studio Potter are
combining forces to offer a dual internship in two different yet
congruent parts of the ceramics field: arts publishing and studio
practice.

The internship will be split into two sections: one half of the internship will be working with Studio Potter
editor, Elenor Wilson, assisting in publication production, archive
development, marketing and social media management, and membership
building; the second half will be working as a studio assistant under
Justine Barrett Figura of Tandem Ceramics, assisting in ceramic
production, market research, studio maintenance, and social media
development.

The ideal candidate is a student (undergrad or grad) or emerging
artist with an interest in any of the following: writing, editing,
pottery, ceramics, art history, studio management, pottery production,
slip casting, plaster mold making, documentation/marketing of work.
Experience in plaster mold making and slip casting highly preferred but
not required.
