Exhibition Dates: February 3-24, 2012 International Cup 2012, sponsored by the Clay Studio of Missoula, is an exhibition showcasing ceramic work that explores the infinite possibilities of the idea of a cup. This year’s exhibition will be juried by Jayson Lawfer and Emily Schroeder. Open to artists world wide. Work must be address the idea of “cup” and be made primarily out of clay. Each artist may submit 1 or 2 entries. All work must be for sale.

Call for entries: Currents: Influenced by Place

About the Exhibition:

Currents: Influenced by Place, is a national (USA) juried exhibition that highlights our personal connection to clay through place. Whether it is our current location, where we came from or where we anticipate going, physically and mentally, our sense of place affects us as artists. Sponsored by H.O.T. Clay, and organized by its members, the exhibition will take place at the Focus Gallery, at the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Florida.

Eligibility:
The show is open to anyone nationwide 18 years of age or older. Submitted work should be at least 60 percent clay and must have been completed within the last 2 years.

Dates and Location:
The opening reception will take place Friday, December 2nd from 7pm to 9pm at the Focus Gallery at the University of Florida. All accepted works must be shipped and returned at the cost to the artist. If your work is accepted, please deliver it with a return shipping form that has been paid for in advance. All works that do not include return shipping will be considered a generous donation to the H.O.T. Clay Club.

Entry Procedures:
Submission in digital format via CD is required. Each CD should contain your entry images (jpeg 1200×900 at 300 dpi) as well as a brief artist’s statement, resume, and completed entry form in PDF Format. Up to three entries with one detail image per entry may be submitted. Works that differ from submitted images beyond acceptable parameters will not be shown. Images should be labeled as such: LastnameFirstnameEntrynumber.jpg. Please add “detail” when necessary.

Application Information:
There is a non-refundable entry fee of $25 per artist, with a maximum of 3 works per individual. Please make checks payable to University of Florida.

A.I.R. Vallauris: Artists in Residence, Vallauris France www.air-vallauris.org Located in the heart of the old town of Vallauris, on the French Riviera, the association A.I.R. Vallauris (Artists in Residence) welcomes international artists from all horizons to meet and collaborate with local artists and to research and create new work in an artistic laboratory created specifically for them. The Association has four primary objectives:
To host resident international artists
To support contemporary creation
to provide eduation in the field of Ceramic Arts
to organize cultural events Created in October 2001, the Association A.I.R. Vallauris, since April 2002, welcomes several artists at a given time in its residence and studios available to the artists. There are several different residency periods to choose from, and the durations vary. The creators using different mediums benefit from an equipped studio, independent furnished bedrooms and a gallery where their works are presented at the end of the residency period. The quality of the artistic creation is one of the major concerns or the program; the selection committee evaluates applicants based on their artistic experience, merit and project proposal. Since April 2002, over 130 creators of 30 different nationalities have taken part in the program. The Association encourages and facilitates interaction between local artists and international artists. Workshops, conferences, demonstrations exhibitions are organized with the resident artists. These events are open to the public. Through partnerships with the local School of Fine Arts, the local government, and international organizations a sensibility of exchange between the public, artists, and international is realized. Applications are reviewed, scheduled and confirmed during the first week of each month.
