Fall 2020 Call for Exhibition Proposals – Morehead State University

The Caudill College Department of Art & Design at Morehead State University located in Morehead, Kentucky is seeking exhibition submissions from interested solo and group artists. Exhibitions will be held in Fall 2020 during the months of October and November. All media are eligible for consideration. Artists will be chosen in early May by the Gallery Director and the faculty of the Art & Design department.

The recently renovated three-level gallery features approximately 2500 square feet of quality exhibition space with a screening room to display new media.

Artists are responsible for the cost of delivery to and from the Golding-Yang Art Gallery. Some promotional expenses are covered depending on the needs of the artist.

Your submission should include the following:

  • Up to 10 high-quality images (NOTE: 1mb max per image)
  • ID List of Images: Title(s) of work, year completed, medium, size, retail price
  • Artist Statement
  • Current CV or Resume
  • Exhibition Proposal

We’re serving up an exhibition of small plates, not larger than 8 inches.

call for entry: Ceramic Tile Competition

The Ceramics of Italy 2020 Tile Competition awards top North American architects and designers for their exceptional work and creative use of Italian ceramic or porcelain tile in built projects around the world. An international jury of design experts will review submissions from all over the continent and ultimately select winners in four categories – residential, commercial, institutional, and student.

Winners will receive $2,000 cash, an all-expenses-paid CEU-accredited trip to Bologna, Italy for Cersaie 2020, and the opportunity to present their projects in front of a large audience at Coverings in New Orleans.

The competition is presented by Confindustria Ceramica (the Italian Association of Ceramics) and the Italian Trade Agency. The deadline to enter is January 17, 2020. For more information, visit www.tilecompetition.com.

call for artists: Revealed Emerging Artist Series 2021

The Sculpture Center invites early career artists of the greater Ohio region whose practice includes sculpture, installation, mixed and expanded media, relational aesthetics, and performance to apply for inclusion in its annual Revealed Emerging Artist Series (formerly Window to Sculpture or W2S). Through this keystone program, now in its thirtieth year, The Sculpture Center fosters and promotes the careers of exceptional sculptors during the first ten years of their profession. Four to six artists are selected annually by a diverse Exhibition Committee for one-person, full gallery exhibitions of new work in either the Main Gallery (1000 sq. ft.), Euclid Avenue Gallery (750 sq. ft.) or new for 2021, the mixed-use outdoor Davis Courtyard. The 6-7 week long exhibitions will be held January 2021-June 2021.

The Series

The Sculpture Center is seeking applicants for the 11th year of its 2021 Revealed (formerly Window to Sculpture or W2S) Emerging Artist Series with an open Call to Artists from the Ohio region. Founded in 1989 The Sculpture Center fosters and promotes the careers of exceptional sculptors during the first ten years of their profession. 4-6 artists are chosen annually for one-person exhibitions in either the Main Gallery, Euclid Avenue Gallery, or outdoor courtyard with a group catalog (if funding is available). The 6-7 week long exhibitions will be held January 2021-May 2021.

The staff of The Sculpture Center work closely with the artist throughout the development of the exhibition, but do not make studio visits unless requested to do so by the artist.

Eligibility

The artist of stand-alone sculpture, installation, expanded media, relational aesthetics, or performance must have an Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, western Pennsylvania, western New York, or Ontario, Canada connection, by birth, residency, or education, but does not need to be currently living in the area.

By the application deadline (January 6, 2020) the artist must have completed his/her schooling (B.A. or M.A.), apprenticeship, or period of equivalent self-taught experience by at least one year and be no more than ten years from schooling graduation date into his/her career.

The artist may not be attending school at the time of the exhibition. If a sculptor chosen for the Revealed series enters an art school before the exhibition, he/she forfeits the exhibition opportunity, but may reapply, with preference given, upon graduation.

Submitted images or videos should be of sculpture, installation, other expanded media, etc., that indicate current work and, if possible, the nature of the proposed Revealed exhibition. The Revealed series requires the creation of a new body of work or significant further development of a current body of work.

The Revealed Application allows for submission of up to 15 images and requires a $35 entry fee.
