OPEN Call for Artists! “ART & BOOK” An International Juried Competition for Artists. Work accepted in the following subject categories: 1) ARTISTS BOOKS: An “artists book” is a work of art, visual or conceptual in nature that refers to books or the idea of the book. It is not illustrations done for books. They are “objects (or sculpture) which have been inspired by, or heavily influenced by “the fetish-object known as book” (to quote Stan Bevington). They are “artists books” even though they don’t conform in all respects to some ten-point checklist of what makes a traditional book.” Richard Miller To paraphrase an essay by Johnanna Drucker, an artist”s book is a work of art conceived and executed as a book and does not exist in any other form or format. It might use images, texts and any and all means of production ” photography, painting, drawing, collage, metalwork, stitching, beading, both handwork and machine driven. 2) FINE ART: PAINTINGS SCULPTURE ETC. THAT INCORPORATES THE CONCEPT OF THE BOOK:

Work can be abstract, conceptual, surreal, visionary, any style. Looking for inspirational avant-garde submissions. Callout TO: Jewellers, Ceramists, Glass Artists and Object makers

Since its inception in 2006, Gaffa Gallery has provided a creative space for emerging and established artists and designers. As an integral part of its move to Sydney’s CBD, Gaffa will open the
doors to a dedicated Jewellery and Object retail store. At present we are looking for Jewellers, Ceramists, Glass Artists and Object makers to be represented in the retail store. We aim to showcase remarkable and exciting work, with a strong
emphasis placed on quality craftsmanship, innovation and interesting
design. If you are interested in having your wares showcased in our retail outlet, feel free to tell us a little more about yourself and your practice. Please provide the following:

Call for entries for The Clunes Ceramic Award is a national award, is now open to all artists. The Clunes Ceramics Award is an acquisition prize with the winning entry for 2010 becoming part of Art Gallery of Ballarat’s permanent collection. The works of the 50 finalists will be exhibited in the historic town of Clunes at a variety of venues.

GUEST ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM: THE CLAY STUDIO

The Guest Artist-in-Residence program is open to any artist whose primary medium is clay. Since 1992 the Clay Studio’s Guest Artist-in-Residence program has hosted artists from over thirty five countries including Anquilla, Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, The Czech Republic, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Romania, Russia, Sweden, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Wales, and the United States. The Guest Artist-in-Residence Program provides:

  • a 12 x 12 ft. studio on The Clay Studio’s third floor
  • an apartment across the street
  • a materials and firing stipend of up to $200
  • and a $500 a month living stipend.

Residencies vary from 4 to 8 weeks, but both shorter and longer residencies have occurred to accommodate an artist’s schedule or to allow for a larger project. Some technical assistance is provided, but this program is designed for artists to work independently. CALL FOR ENTRIES: THE ART OF APPLIED DESIGN

Designers working in fiber, clay, wood, metal or glass are invited to participate in this international juried competition. Submitted works must be functional objects commonly used within interior spaces. Purely decorative objects are ineligible. The online exhibition will be on view from Sept. 15-Dec. 1, 2010 and will include e-mail addresses of accepted artists to facilitate their independent commercal interests.
