Shot thru the heart…just in time for Valentines day…
Oh dear bad Bon Jovi song stuck in my head, sorry about sharing that. Just wanted to let you all know why I’ve been so busy and so neglectful at posting about studio work lately. It’s because my show at Mysteria Gallery in my old hometown of Regina opens this Saturday. It’s been an insane few weeks pulling everything together, but the photos have now been taken and the work ready to be packed in the car for the drive down. I’m really excited about this show, excited about the new works, excited about showing in my old hometown (looking forward to seeing a lot of old friends); and I’m also excited about showing with Marsha Kennedy who beyond being an amazing painter that I’ve admired for years – she was also my undergrad painting professor. I do hope if you’re in the area you’ll stop by to say hi, but if you can’t make it I’ll make sure to post some pictures of the new work on my website asap. And I do promise I’ll get back to my new years resolution to post more starting next week. You guys have been incredibly generous with lovely comments and I really appreciate the feedback! You’re all just so darn lovable! Cheers.
Looking for a clay workshop in Tuscany?

La Meridiana organizes residential Ceramic Courses and Pottery Workshops of one or two weeks since 1981. They are thought for beginners, advanced and professional potters.
The topics treated are various and refer to all the ceramic processes: hand building, throwing, trimming, decorating, study and application of glazes and the various firing techniques (majolica, raku, high temperature, salt & soda, wood, etc). The Ceramic School is set in a restored 15th century farmhouse, in the centre of Tuscany, land of Etruscan and Roman culture, medieval architecture and renaissance splendour. Our goal is to offer a facility dedicated to a continual education in the ceramic art, a meeting ground in a place rich in Italian culture. The annual clay seminar, organised for Italian potters on specific contemporary ceramic topics and the International Show of Ceramic Sculpture “Concreta” in Certaldo, where we invite masters of modern ceramics, complete our main cultural of activities. For a complete list of upcoming workshops please check out their website (there is far too much interesting information to list here!)

Call for entry – Potters Council
Potters Council 2011 Exhibition: “The Shoulders We Stand On” Once again, we celebrate the community of our council with a show of members’ work in conjunction with NCECA 2011.
The name of the show is “The Shoulders We Stand On“.
The 2011 Potters Council members show in Tampa, Florida will pay tribute to our roots, the significant influences that shape us and guide our work in clay. We are creative heirs standing on the shoulders of Giants. We cannot help but reference and renew their ideas in our own work. These distinctive inspirations become the touchstones of our best original efforts. These muses are not always specific or singular. Your inspiration might lie in the simple forms of an anonymous ancient potter. Perhaps you’ve been seduced from afar by the work of legendary potters. A teacher may have given you a unique point of view, personal guidance or new set of skills. Your work for this particular exhibition may have a visual link to a particular culture or artist. It might find its connection on a more philosophical level. it must however show both a clear source of inspiration and a truly original new direction. We do not seek copies of our roots, but works, which honor them with fresh, innovative interpretations. Go here for submission form. JUROR
