Archie Bray International call for entry

We are pleased to be holding our second annual international call for entries, Beyond the Brickyard. 
The selected works will be exhibited at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena. MT, January 30-March 14, 2010.  This year’s exhibition will be juried by 2009 Voulkos Fellow Wayne Higby.
Specifications

  1. The competition is open internationally to ceramic artists 18 years of age or older.
  2. Artists may submit up to 3 works for consideration, and up to 2 images of each piece (one complete photo plus one detail or alternate angle).
  3. All artwork must be available for sale and available during the time of exhibition.
  4. The artwork exhibited must be the same piece(s) submitted for consideration.
  5. Submitted artwork must not exceed 36” in any direction.
  6. The artwork entered should be prepared for professional display and not so fragile as to be potentially dangerous to the work or others when shipped/displayed/handled with reasonable care.
  7. Artists are responsible for cost of shipping selected work(s) to the Archie Bray Foundation (ABF). Artists are responsible for their own insurance for shipping to ABF and during the time that artwork resides there. ABF will assume cost and shipping insurance for the return of any unsold work.
  8. For good image quality and a fast upload, your image files should be sized no larger than 1800 x 1800 pixels at 72 dpi (approximately 6″ x 6″ at 300 dpi)

Submissions to Beyond the Brickyard will only be accepted online. By following the link at the bottom of this page you will be taken to Slideroom.com which will allow you to register and upload your images. Submissions can be edited and are not officially submitted until you choose the “Submit Portfolio” button. 
Submissions must be received online by midnight  MST, September 15, 2009.Entry Fee
The cost of entering Beyond the Brickyard is $35 USD for up to 3 works. Once you choose the “Submit Portfolio” button you will be asked for your payment by credit card. All major credit cards are accepted. 
 
Awards
From the successful entrants, two awards will be selected:
Juror’s Choice Award: $400
Director’s Choice Award: $400Sales Commission
Artists will receive 55% commission of their work sold during exhibition, while ABF will retain 45%.Exhibition Schedule 
By applying all applicants agree to the following schedule if selected to exhibit:

Clay and shoes, an interesting call for entry

sole•purposeTWO is looking for works that are created using a minimum of 50% clay combined with a maximum of creative inspiration from the concept of footwear!

The exhibition is being curated by evb•studio & Sellars Project Space, accepted works will be exhibited in the beautiful 1000 sq ft Sellars Project Space, located at 4383 Tennyson St. Denver CO. All accepted artists will be included in a catalog of the exhibition and maintain web presence for one[1] year. AWARDS: 4 JUROR PICK AWARDS and PURCHASE AWARD COMMUNITY.

sole•purposeTWO commits to dedicating a portion of its’ proceeds to TOMS Shoes; for every pair of TOMS shoes purchased TOMs gives a pair to a child in need.

MEDIA: ANY clay, at least 50% clay — traditional fired clays, polymer clay, epoxy clay, air dry clays, precious metal clay — so long as it is hardened (no unfired or oil clays, clay must be fired or dried to a hardened state)

Mix it up with some ‘mixed media’ elements — or not. Make it 2-D or 3-D. Realistic interpretations, Fantasy, Stylized, Abstract, have fun with it! Keep it under 20” in any direction

BECA gallery is currently accepting submissions for review of original works of art and design which retail below $500. If you are submitting images of 3D works, please submit 1 alternative view of each 3D work. If you would like to submit your 2D or 3D works of art and design for review and possible inclusion on www.becagallery.com within the categories ‘Ceramic Works’, ‘Mixed-Media’, ‘Sculpture’, ‘Drawings’, ‘Fiber Art/Textiles’, ‘Archival Prints’, ‘Paintings’, ‘Design/Functional Art’ or ‘Photography’, please email your website link or 5 -10 jpg images sized approximately 8×8 inches at 72dpi to [email protected] with the subject line: ‘artist submission’. There is no submission fee to have your works considered for inclusion within these categories on our website. Artists and their works are introduced at least 2 times per month to collectors, galleries, curators and art enthusiasts via our e-newsletters and announcements and also receive wide exposure through the website itself, currently viewed by over 55,000 visitors each month (noted March 30, 2009).
