from multiple artists that are both throwers and handbuilders. Each
artist will be demonstrating many ways to alter the form and surface
that will have you ready to get back to the studio to try out new ideas.
Each
of these talented and engaging artists are ready to share their
techniques and ideas with you over a two day conference. This conference
is open to artists at all levels: from enthusiastic amateur, to the
teacher, and for the professional. No matter what level you are, if
you’re open to learning and connecting with other ceramic artists then
this is the conference for YOU!

Attendees will learn how to…
- Make undulating tile
- Carve curved clay
- Do Sgraffito
- Print with underglazes
- Use earthenware, red stoneware, nylon fiber and paper clay to help with attachments and timing
- To set up a simple screen print lab in the clay studio
- Throw and alter a bottomless cylinder
- Utilize darting to alter
- Make paper templates for a slab built spout
- Pull a “bone” handle
- Texture the surface
- Do crack repair and mending techniques will be shared
- Make slabs by hand
- Score, stretch, stamp, sprig the surface

Are you a regional artist looking for an opportunity to showcase your work?
The Gordon Gallery is now seeking applications for this annual exhibition.
THE GEELONG REGIONAL ARTISTS EXHIBITION
is an annual event on The Gordon Gallery Calendar. Now in its tenth
year, this exhibition is designed to celebrate and promote the
extraordinary artistic talent of the region. It provides local artists
with the opportunity to further develop and professionalise their
artistic practise.
Criteria:

The Gordon Gallery will accept
contemporary works in any medium such as painting, printmaking,
photography, sculpture, glass, ceramics, textiles, jewellery,
performance art or new media.

Applicants must either have been born,
currently live, or have resided within the boundaries of the City of
Greater Geelong, the Borough of Queenscliff, Surf Coast, or Golden
Plains Shires for a period of at least six months.
