Summer 2011The University of Regina’s Department of Visual Arts is seeking artists to fillproject based Resident Artist positions for summer 2011. The length of residencywill be determined by the applicant’s needs within the period of May 23 – August rd12 , 2011. Each position offers: free studio accommodation and limited access to thefacilities and equipment, dependent on need, experience and availability. Inexchange the Resident Artist agrees to volunteer their time to be available tostudents on an informal basis, while in studio and to present their work in a groupformat for the Art for Lunch series in the fall of 2011. Resident’s will also beinvited to participate in an exhibition at the Fifth Parallel Gallery in September of2011. For application to the program, a description, with sketches wherepertinent, of the project or projects you would like to engage in while atthe University is required. Applications from all artists are encouraged but priority will be given to Universityof Regina alumni. Tenure-track position in Studio Art at U of R

The Department of Visual Arts at the University of Regina invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Studio Art, at the rank of Assistant Professor, to commence July 1, 2011. The successful candidate should be a highly qualified practitioner with an MFA or other terminal degree. Candidates should have expertise in a range of contemporary approaches to art making, the ability to contribute to the delivery of undergraduate and graduate teaching in Visual Arts as well as to interdisciplinary initiatives within the Faculty of Fine Arts. An active record of research dissemination is essential. The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach art foundations, and courses in at least two of the following areas: ceramics, digital imaging, intermedia, professional issues, and sculpture. Skills in the use of digital tools will be considered an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to administration and committee work in the Department, Faculty and University and to teaching and research within the Faculty of Fine Arts.

The Department of Visual Arts at the University of Regina is a comprehensive program with majors specializing in ceramics, drawing, intermedia, painting, print-media, sculpture, art history and cultures of display. The Department is located within the Faculty of Fine Arts and members engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative work within the Department, Faculty and University. Faculty include studio artists and art historians and the Department offers BFA, BA, BA (Honours) and MFA degrees, a special 3-year program for Arts Education majors and two certificate programs. Faculty in Visual Arts are active artists, academics, curators and writers, who disseminate their work nationally and internationally. The Regina area supports a lively arts community with a number of significant public, commercial and artist-run galleries, and both the University and the City of Regina have a strong commitment to public art.

Applicants are required to submit a letter of application; CV; examples of studio practice on CD or DVD and/or other relevant documentation of current work; a statement of research practice; a statement of teaching philosophy identifying areas of teaching expertise; all academic transcripts (originals required), up to three reprints of scholarly writing if applicable, and the names of three referees who have been asked to send letters by the deadline date.
