By discussing the triangle (creating, marketing, and selling), each participant will come out of the workshop with a better feel for their creations and how the can increase their sales and the visibility of their work in the art/craft market. Touch will be the primary verb during this weekend workshop with ceramic artist Carla Potter. Sensitivity to material and attention to fine detail have always been a principal ingredient of Carla’s porcelain work, whether it is describing the vivid detail of the sub-tidal zone of her island home in Southeast Alaska, or her current figurine-scale self portraits. This workshop will focus on the nature of this sublime, seductive material and how we as artists can coax it into expressive objects. Potter will show a range of techniques for hand-building small figures as well as ways to create active, textured surfaces. October 8, 10:00am – 5:00pm
$90 for non-members/$80 for members, seniors and students. Includes lunch.
