RDC has a
state of the art ceramics facility where the tech is provided with an
office/studio space. The well equipped Ceramics studio has high-fire
electric kilns, two Bailey gas kilns, a Bourry box wood kiln and a
wood-fired salt kiln.
This is a great opportunity to work within the creative and stimulating environment and
state of the art facilities of the Red Deer College Visual Art program. As the Ceramics
Technician, you will support both the Credit and Continuing Education Visual Art programs.
You will provide full technical support for students and instructors in ceramics. Duties
include preparation for, and assistance with, classes; monitoring supplies; and ensuring
safety standards are met. You will achieve results through effective utilization of strong
technical and communication skills. You will consistently exhibit the ability to multi-task and
prioritize large workload demands from all areas of the department. In the credit program, you will oversee studio processes as well as the capital and operational inventory of the
Ceramics Studio. For Continuing Education, you will provide occasional technical and
materials support for non-credit programming.
You can go to the Red Deer College website: www.rdc.ab.ca and click on Employment, then non-instructional to see the posting and apply on-line.
Or use this url:employment.rdc.ab.ca/applicants/Central?quickFind=51676
The applications close on April 22 at NOON.

If you’re like me and would love to have more time to read up on the world of ceramics but filtering through all of the posts, events, musings, etc every month is too time consuming – then check out Pottery Making Blog as once a month they do a Clay Blog Review and post a wrap up of some of the wonderful things over the last month you should make sure not to miss.
So handy and helpful!

My name is Cherie Peyton and I live in Sydney, Australia. I originally
attended evening pottery classes in the early 90s when my sons were
small – I enjoyed it so much I never stopped. I now teach wheel
throwing and porcelain jewellery evening classes myself for our Local
Community College and love passing on my knowledge and skills to
newcomers. The kinds of pots I enjoy making are large carved bowls, I
am intrigued by tree roots and branches which have a big influence in my
pots. Flowers are another favourite of mine and I also love making
porcelain roses and the porcelain jewellery.

Want
to be featured as an emerging artist on musing? All you have to do is
send me some images, a brief write up if you’d like, and a
website if you have it to [email protected] If you could put emerging
artist in the subject header of the email so it doesn’t get lost in my
spam folder that would be great. Thanks!
