LOAM Clay Studio is accepting applications for the position of ‘Ceramic Designer & Studio Manager’. This is a 35-40hrs. per week paid position.

LOAM Clay studio is a growing ceramic centre in Hintonburg, an Ottawa neighbourhood known for its vibrant arts community. The studio offers all levels of pottery classes and studio space for independent work. We design and produce dinnerware for restaurants as well as sell our own brand of pottery. We also carry pottery supplies which are available in the studio and online.

LOAM is currently growing its production capacity for in-house designs and custom work for restaurants and individuals.

Applicants must have a solid foundation in the ceramic arts, experience managing a ceramic studio and an eagerness to be an integral part of a growing pottery studio. As the business is growing rapidly, all employees have a broad range of responsibilities. The successful applicant will have a significant roll in defining the future direction of the business.

This position requires a physically strong and motivated individual. Specific duties will include, efficiently managing the studio, teaching classes & workshops, designing and making tableware.

Successful applicants must have a passion for working with clay.

Job Posting: Studio Assistant LOAM Clay Studio

LOAM
Clay studio is a growing pottery business in the heart of Hintonburg,
an Ottawa neighbourhood known for its vibrant arts community.
The
position will be for a minimum 20hours per week. Applicants must have a
solid foundation in the ceramics arts and an eagerness to further
develop their skills. This position requires a physically strong and
motivated individual. Specific duties will include, maintaining a clean
and dust free environment in the studio, loading and unloading the kiln,
recycling clay, providing technical support to open studio potters,
assisting with classes and workshops, and providing friendly customer
services to visitors and shoppers.

NOW OPEN FOR BUSINESS

LOAM Clay Studio is a new pottery studio opening in Ottawa’s vibrant
Hintonburg area. It is located at the corner of Hamilton and Armstrong.
The studio offers pottery classes and workshops for all levels. LOAM also rents studio time to potters with some experience.

The studio is owned by Nina Marchewka and Sarah Fulford. Nina and Sarah are both longtime members of The Gladstone Clayworks Co-operative.  They bring over 25 years each of pottery experience to LOAM Clay Studio.

Nina and Sarah will be showing and selling their work in the LOAM Clay Studio gallery.

Michele Macdonald
will be LOAM’s only full time member as well as LOAM’s Glaze Tech.
Michele brings a wealth of in depth knowledge with her that will benefit
the studio.
