Call for Entries/Exhibition Opportunities at Anderson Ranch – deadline November 15, 2010
Anderson Ranch is accepting applications for exhibition proposals for artists to show their work in our Gideon Gartner and Hansen Galleries. The Gideon Gartner Gallery showcases experimental and site-specific artwork. The Hansen Gallery, located on our first floor, is open to a wide range of exhibition possibilities. Each exhibition will feature a single artist or artist collaborative and will showcase the Ranch’s long history of creating dynamic and ground-breaking work.
Exhibition Dates:
December 6, 2010 – February 25, 2011 and March 14 – May 15, 2011

The deadline for submitting a proposal for any of these opportunities is November 15, 2010
Exhibition Guidelines:
All artists, individuals or collaborations are welcome and invited to submit a proposal. We encourage proposals from across the diverse spectrum of the visual arts.
Gideon Gartner Gallery is located on the third floor of the Dows Barn administration building directly above the Patton-Malott Gallery. The space is 308 inches long x 210 inches wide (minus a 62” x 52” stairwell opening). The gallery has one wall 308 inches long x 94 inches high that is used to display artwork. Please see attached gallery floor plan for more detailed description of the space.
The Julia and Edward Hansen Gallery is located on the first floor of the Dows Barn administration building in our primary circulation area. The gallery has one wall 144 inches long x 90 inches high that is used to display artwork.
If selected, artists will be responsible for the installation and de-installation of their exhibition during the scheduled dates listed above and must return the exhibition space to the condition in which they found it. The artist is responsible for the cost of shipping the artwork to and from Anderson Ranch Arts Center.
Artists are allowed to make their work available for sale, and the commission split is 60% artist/ 40% Anderson Ranch Arts Center. Anderson Ranch will process all sales and payment and will send the artist their commission share.

Snowmass Village, CO – Anderson Ranch Arts Center is pleased to announce its continued efforts to offer expanded year-round educational programs, artists’ opportunities and studio access. New and expanded programming include the second year of Fall and Spring Weekend Workshops, January Studio Immersive and increased Artists’ Opportunities which includes call for entries for exhibitions, studio rentals, private lessons, open studios, equipment and facility collaboration and rental and portfolio review. These innovative programs complement the robust Summer Workshops program for which the Ranch is most recognized and were conceived with the purpose of increasing year-round access to the Ranch’s talented artistic staff, state-of-the-art facilities and open and supportive community and campus. WEEKEND WORKSHOPS Weekend Workshops will be offered on the first weekend of every month in the fall: October, November, December and in the spring: February, March & April. Available in a wide spectrum of disciplines for artists of all levels these affordable one- and two-day workshops are taught by our amazing staff of artists. Most classes are open to all levels, so the program is equally suitable for the professional artist as for the novice who has always wanted to try their hand at art making or to experiment with a new medium or technique. The purpose is to stimulate the creative mind at any level of skill or experience.

JANUARY STUDIO IMMERSIVE, JANUARY 3-21, 2011 Anderson Ranch is proud to announce another major program initiative—the three-week January Studio Immersive. In its second year, this program is designed as a mix between the Artists’ Residencies and our Workshops programs. Approximately 30 students (accepted via juried review) will receive a generous studio and access to every technical facility on the Ranch. This is an incredible opportunity to pursue interdisciplinary study with the assistance of the Ranch’s artistic staff, as well as critical dialog with visiting critics. Participants will be encouraged to diversify their practice and explore the broad array of mediums including painting/drawing, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, woodworking/furniture design, film and digital photography and new media. Visiting critics from some of the best MFA programs will be present to provide critical and professional advice to every participant. The 2011 Studio Immersive critics will include David Humphrey and Charles Long. Previous visiting artists/critics at Anderson Ranch include Judy Pfaff, Stephan Westfall, Polly Apfelbaum, Brian Toll, Mala Iqbal and Sanford Biggers. STUDIO ACCESS Anderson Ranch offers artists at all levels expanded access and opportunities to work in our studios and facilities and receive instruction from our talented staff. Glücksburg Palace, Römhild, Germany, 14-August – 11-September 2011
Drawing its theme from the famous dictum of panta rhei (“everything flows”), attributed to the Greek philosopher, Heraclitus, the Ninth International Ceramics Symposium will take place in the Thuringian pottery city of Römhild in 2011. Some 160 artists from 29 countries have taken part in the previous, highly regarded eight symposia.
Organized by the Association for the Advancement of the International Symposium Römhild e.V, it is supported by government, well-known business sponsors and individuals in public life.
Guidelines for Participants:
Participation will be limited to eight national and/or international artists, who will be selected from the applicants by a knowledgeable jury of experts.
Selected participant will receive maximum stipends of 2.000 Euros as well as lodging and meals during the symposium. Materials and technical equipment will be placed at their disposal and will include electrical, wood-burning, and gas kilns. It is assumed that the participants also will conduct firing experiments to further the creation of new forms of expression.
All work at the end of the symposium will remain the property of the Association for the Advancement of the International Ceramics Symposium Römhild e.V. These artistic creations will be on view to the public in the exhibition halls and featured in a catalog of the exhibition.
Selected works will be displayed in the permanent ceramics collection of the Glücksburg Palace Museum in Römhild which already contains an extensive array of work from the previous symposia.
The deadline for applications is October 21, 2010.
Applicants should submit an application that includes 10 – 15, preferably high-definition photographs of their work on a CD-Rom, a description of their past work and other exhibitions in which they have participated, as well as a vita.
Invitations to those artists who are selected will be sent by December 31, 2010.

Each participant can exhibit 4 rabbit style teapots at most, regardless of whether they are functional, semi-functional, or non-functional. 2. Size of teapot should be no more than 40 cm. in height, width or depth. 3. Participants can sell their teapots as well. The commission is 50% of the retail prices. 4. We prefer different style teapot, not only a style with different colors. 5. The teapots must be ceramic. The use of lava, cement or any other material is not acceptable. 6. Collective teapots presented by two or more creators (ceramists or designers) are acceptable. 7. The organizer agrees to undertake the following: ‧ all expenses inherent to the exhibition and the promotion thereof ‧ insurance of the exhibited works for the duration of the exhibition ‧ Chinese customs’ formalities ‧ expenses incurred in returning works (not including transport insurance) ‧ printing of an illustrated invitation, catalogue, etc. 8.
