This year, we have upped the ante a bit and the winner will receive a $500 gift card to Bailey’s Ceramic Supplies, who has graciously sponsored the contest. One of a Kind Vancouver is proud to announce its new Emerging Artist District for 2011. This District features an open gallery space where up and coming artists can showcase their work in a dedicated intimate environment.
Deadline for this brand new section has been extended to May 15th!
Artists with less than 5 years professional experience are eligible and require a price range up to $1000 as we encourage artists to have a variety of price points to engage all our visitors. To apply, artists must complete a full application and submit a short paragraph about their work, style and artistic statement. Artists’ work accepted includes acrylics, oils, watercolours, hand-pulled prints, photography and sculpture. All work must be original to be featured in this section. Those wishing to provide reproductions may apply to exhibit in other areas of the show floor.
OOAK Vancouver will provide artists with the following:
- 6′ x 2′ space w/ white hardwall (8 ft high)*
- Vinyl signage identifying your space
- Lighting**
- Exhibitor rate $500

The 46th Annual NCECA Conference, “On the Edge,” will be held in Seattle, Washington at the Washington State Convention Center, March 28 – March 31, 2012. In conjunction with the conference, the University of Washington’s Jacob Lawrence Gallery will host the NCECA 2012 National Student Juried Exhibition, March 6 – March 31, 2012.Find out all the details here.

In May 2011, Ceramics Monthly will feature the works of emerging clay artists. Those actively pursuing a career in ceramics for less than ten years are eligible.
To be considered submit the following:
• Up to five professional-quality digital images (300 ppi resolution on CD, plus a full-size color print of each image), with complete descriptions of works.
• Full contact information including e-mail, artist’s statement and résumé.

What is it?: The Emerging Makers Award is an opportunity for new potters and artists working with clay who have graduated from college within the past five years, to present a Powerpoint slideshow about their practice at the 2011 International Ceramics Festival.
Six makers will be selected to make presentations on their work each lasting 15 minutes (including a Q7A session) at the Festival. The presentations will take place in the lecture rooms. From the six selected, one will be chosen by festival audience to receive an award kindly donated by Potclays. Each of the six makers will receive a ticket to the Festival weekend. What to do next: Applicants are asked to submit a simple 10 minute PowerPoint presentation of images on a CD along with one side of A4 information about themselves, their practice to date and plans for the future, as well as 3 reasons why they should be selected.
Send applications to: Sophie Bennett, ICF2011, Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Aberystwyth University, Aberystwyth Ceredigion SY23 3DE. The Potclays Emerging Makers presentations will be selected based on the following criteria: 1) Design element of slides (out of 5),
2) Delivery element (out of 5),
3) Visual element (out of 5)
, 4) Time element (out of 5) The Potclays Emerging Makers Award will be selected during the weekend by the festival customers and will be presented during the closing Ceremony of the Festival.
All six selected applicants will received free entry to the festival (excluding accommodation and subsistence). Successful applicants will be notified prior to the event by email.
