The visual beauty of a ceramic work can evoke intrigue, thought and stillness, add to this the sensual qualities of its tactility, and it is irresistible.
Skepsi Gallery and Montsalvat have come together to present Engaging Form, an exhibition of Exemplary Australian Contemporary Studio Ceramics of outstanding quality and of an aesthetic that is engaging, contemplative and inspiring.
An exhibition catalogue, Engaging Form, has been produced, a commemorative and useful publication for identification of ceramics. This will be available for purchase.

“The “Field Guide for Ceramic Artisans” is a website of information and resources developed to help and support students when they are finishing school.”
Thanks to Julia Galloway you can now find out all the dirt on pre graduation, post graduation, studio, kilns, exhibitions, documentation references, shipping work, and interviews. I wish this had been around when i graduated, heck I can still make use of it now!
Thanks Julia Galloway – we love you!

16 June – 22 June 2012
University of Sunderland
BA (Hons) Students
University
of Sunderland students present Glass and
Ceramics 2012, an exhibition of 21 artists from Saturday the 16th
to Friday the 22nd of June 2012 at the National Glass Centre.
The
students have been creating their final pieces since the beginning of this
academic year, thoroughly testing materials and concepts.
Each
project reflects the individual student’s interests and approach; developed
over the previous two years of the Glass and Ceramics degree course.
Some
students use traditional craft techniques, while others favour cutting-edge
manufacturing processes. Glass and
Ceramics 2012 will showcase the region’s
best glass and ceramics practitioners of the future.
The
exhibition will give students a real-world task; working to deadlines, presenting
their work professionally, and forging media contacts to promote themselves. Glass and Ceramics 2012 is more than
just an academic exercise, it is a launch pad for tomorrow’s designers and
makers – and an opportunity to showcase themselves that is becoming
increasingly rare in today’s market.
Visitors
to the exhibition will have the pleasure of supporting the work of up-and-coming
artists, and be giving the opportunity to buy any pieces that catch their eye.

- Teach introductory studio courses and enhance personal teaching skills.
- Be mentored by, and assist nationally and internationally known visiting artist instructors.
