Position Description Pitzer College, a member of the Claremont Colleges, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Art in Sculpture
to begin Fall 2014. The successful applicant will have an active
professional practice, an in-depth knowledge of contemporary art and
theory, and will demonstrate excellence in the teaching of sculpture at
the undergraduate level. A course load of five courses per year will
include introductory and advanced courses, independent studies and
critiques as part of the Art major, and First Year Seminars. We are
particularly interested in applicants who are familiar with traditional
and contemporary practices, including emerging interdisciplinary media
and whose art intersects with environmentalism and community engagement.
Interest in and ability to teach specialized seminars in the broader
social and historical dimensions of sculpture, and to contribute to the
ancillary programming connected to the Pitzer Art Galleries, is a plus.

Qualifications
MFA, including two or more years of full-time
teaching experience beyond graduate school, and experience in
supervising facilities and students in a sculpture studio.

550 is accepting entries of functional ceramic work that is made for
drinking. All work must be functional, but may include cups, steins,
mugs, tumblers, sets, yunomis, tea bowls, and many more. We hope to make
this an annual international exhibit of great ceramic works of art for
your daily life. The show will be open just in time for the holiday
rush.  All pieces must be for sale and must be functional.

The 19th International Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Craft. December 6 – January 25, 2014

Craft Forms is an international juried exhibition
dedicated to enhancing the public’s awareness of fine contemporary craft
while providing a venue for established and emerging artists alike to
share their creative endeavors. Craft Forms is open to all professional
artists working in clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood or mixed media
crafts. Artists are juried on-line and upon acceptance, can exhibit
multiples
of their work in the Wayne Art Center Gallery Shop
(in addition to the accepted works in the exhibition).
