Red Lodge Clay Center is pleased to announce a search for the full-time position of Curator & Gallery Coordinator. This individual will work closely with the Executive Director, RLCC Staff, and Residents to fulfill the mission statement set forth by the Red Lodge Clay Center.
About the Red Lodge Clay Center: The RLCC was established in 2006 by Executive Director, David Hiltner. The Center’s residency programming, contemporary gallery, and education-based mission are nationally recognized in the field of ceramics and continue to grow every year. The community of Red Lodge is a small, rural town in south-central Montana with a vibrant tourist-driven economy nestled on the edge of the Beartooth Mountains. We are in close proximity to some of the greatest natural beauty in the US including National Parks such as Yellowstone, as well as pristine rivers, mountains, and a myriad of outdoor activities. We are dedicated to fostering the success of our employees through their own professional practice as well as through the collective effort and dedication of the Clay Center’s mission.
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates should have knowledge of contemporary ceramics, an active studio practice, and previous gallery/curating experience. In addition, we expect candidates to have the necessary interpersonal/communication skills and organizational capability to manage our Resident workforce, as well as maintain excellent relationships with our clients and artists in addition to the other duties required of the Curator & Gallery Coordinator.
Preferred Qualifications: MFA, prior sales/marketing experience, proficiency in Adobe Suite and online sales platforms (Shopify) as well as WordPress and Microsoft Office. Also, prior experience and proficiency with digital photography and photo editing is desired. In addition, we are interested in candidates that are able to develop and implement a short and long-term set of goals and strategies for the continued success of our Retail and Gallery spaces.
The Curator and Gallery Coordinator will be responsible for:
Work with Executive Director to establish annual Exhibition Calendars
Curate and install monthly gallery exhibitions
Maintain Retail Inventory and RLCC Gallery website
Managing Resident Staff
Facilitate public relations and advertising, including the RLCC monthly newsletter
Monitor and update inventory and sales through the point of sale software
Maintain excellent relations and communication with Represented Artists
Oversee logistics of packing & shipping InventoryTo apply:

Sonoma Ceramics at the Sonoma Community Center is now accepting applications through November 5 for our six-month Winter/Spring Artist in Residence opportunity. This is an all-inclusive residency including studio, efficiency apartment, firings, monthly stipend, employment, and exhibition.

From 30 September 2017 to 7 January 2018, museum Voorlinden presents a duo exhibition featuring the artist couple Shio Kusaka (b. 1972) and Jonas Wood (b. 1977). It is their first two-person exhibition in Europe. Wood, an American painter from Boston, and Kusaka, a ceramic artist from Japan, live and work in Los Angeles. Voorlinden would like to introduce the Dutch public to these artists, who are both celebrated in the United States.
Mimi L. Belleau’s “Technology of Ceramic Materials” book is nearing completion. This exceptional work presents a multitude of techniques and materials used in the field of ceramics with a particular emphasis on the physical and chemical characteristics of the materials. About fifty drawings, nearly two hundred color photographs and a hundred synthetic paintings illustrate the 360 pages of the book, and make it a unique and unavoidable reference book!
A few years ago, Mimi Belleau, a ceramist and pedagogue passionate about her craft, began writing a book on the technology of ceramic materials. Mimi has carried out a colossal research on a multitude of techniques and materials specific to the field of ceramics with a particular emphasis on the physical and chemical characteristics of the materials used in the composition of the glazes. Unfortunately, the illness took Mimi away before she was able to finalize her dream. In order to make this valuable work come into existence, several people have agreed to complete its project.
The preparation of the edition of the book Technology of ceramic materials is almost complete. We need your help so that the publication of this book meets the wishes of Mimi. This socio-financing campaign will allow us to cover the costs of printing and publishing. This important pedagogical work presents different techniques and methodologies specific to the exploration of ceramic materials as well as the development and the development of glazes. Many of these techniques are illustrated by works of some fifty Canadian ceramists who generously agreed to contribute to the publication of this book. A particular emphasis is placed on the diversity and know-how of contemporary Canadian ceramists. The book, written in French, presents the North American ceramic materials and will be the only book published in French in Canada and America. In all, about fifty drawings, nearly two hundred color photographs, a hundred synthetic paintings and five lab exercises illustrate the twenty-two chapters of the book, and make it a ceramic learning manual for beginners and amateurs in addition to being a reference work essential for professional ceramists.
