Exhibition idea? No space? The Clay Studio is now accepting proposals for group or thematic Exhibitions. The premise for this program is to provide an individual or individuals the opportunity to develop a show idea from conception to fruition, with the support of the Gallery staff of The Clay Studio. The Clay Studio will provide:
- gallery space (either 365 sq. ft. or 560 sq. ft.)
- an invitation, mailing, and press coverage
- an opening reception
- costs for the return shipment of exhibited work.
A $500.00 honorarium will also be provided to the curator or curators of the exhibition.
Submission Process
No slides accepted for review, ONLY DIGITAL IMAGES.
- a 1-page curator’s statement detailing the premise of the exhibition and its pertinence to contemporary ceramics in hard copy
- the curators resume in hard copy
- a disc with 2 images of each artist represented within the exhibition. Images must be .jpeg files at 72 dpi, with the image’s longest dimension not exceeding 700 pixels. Each image should be labeled as follows: imagenumberyourfirstinitiallastname.jpeg, Example: 1jdoe.jpeg, 2jdoe.jpeg, etc.
- A corresponding image list with artist name, title, medium, size and year created in hard copy

Selection Process
The selection process will be based on the originality and quality of the submission and will be chosen by the Exhibitions Committee of The Clay Studio. The selected proposal will be programmed during the 2011 – 2012 exhibition season. The curator or curators selected will be notified by September 1, 2010. North American Ceramic Competition and Art Show
November 4 – 30
UN-WEDGED seeks contemporary ceramic work, both functional and sculptural, that is exceptional in concept and execution. The use of other media is acceptable as long as ceramics is the principle vehicle of expression. The show is open to all artists living in the United States, Canada and Mexico. All work submitted must have been completed within the last two years.

All work will be judged by digital images. Images must be of the actual work. Digital images should be jpg or tiff format and at least 1024×768 pxels minimum. Image files should be labeled with the artist’s name and a number that corresponds with the information on the entry form (e.g. Voulkos #2). Images of accepted work may be used for publicity.

The Call for Artist Entries is now open for FUNERIA’s 5th biennial international Ashes to Art® competition to present the most original and superbly crafted contemporary funerary urns and personal memorial art being made by artists and designers today. The exhibition opens with a catered reception under a full moon on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Art Honors Life®–FUNERIA’s Northern California gallery. The exhibition will also be presented online to engage registered site visitors in voting for a People’s Choice Award-winning work.The competition is open to artists and design teams worldwide working in all sculptural media. Eminently qualified jurors will choose finalists from digital entries that demonstrate new, original, evocative, beautifully crafted objects that are intended to contain all, or a portion, of an individual’s cremated remains, or that can otherwise be used to celebrate a unique life. A Best of Show cash award, additional cash and non-cash prizes will be selected. A printed catalogue will be available. Additional rules and opportunities are described in the downloadable Prospectus. The entry processing fee is $45 for 1-3 entries. Two additional detail images per entry are allowed at no cost. An online entry process will be added to FUNERIA’s website in the next several weeks. Mail-in entries can be posted anytime up to the August 9, 2010 deadline. Call for artists and artisans in Canadian Badlands Ltd, Historic Clay District’s new artist incubator in downtown Medicine Hat
Medicine Hat – The Canadian Badlands Ltd. and Historic Clay District have partnered to create an artist incubator in downtown Medicine Hat. The space, which will be known as The Hive Artists’ Hub, will provide studio space for artists and/or artisans who wish to focus on their work. In addition, artists will also have access to professional business development and a retail storefront space.
There are five artist and/or artisan studios at The Hive, which are available for artists from a variety of media. The application deadline is May 7, 2010. BE A PART of NCECA 2011: Show us what you’ve got! TIDAL FORCES: The Next Wave – Tampa/St.Pete March 30 to April 2, 2011 NCECA 2011 BIENNIAL EXHIBITION
Tampa Museum of Art will host the 2011 NCECA Biennial from January 29, 2011 to April 24, 2011. Held in odd-numbered years, the NCECA Biennial is the premier juried exhibition open to all current members of NCECA (both national and international) and to all ceramic artists, 18 years and older, residing in the U.S. Please note: artists from outside the U.S. (including Canada) must be NCECA members to enter. Entered works must have been completed within the last 2 years. The exhibition is juried from digital images by three prominent professionals in the field. Entry fee is $20 for members and $40 for non-members. Merit and purchase awards totaling approximately $7,000 are determined by the jurors. NCECA 2011 National Student Juried Exhibition The 45th Annual NCECA Conference, “Tidal Forces: The Next Wave,” will be held in Tampa/St Petersburg, Florida at the Tampa Convention Center,March 30 – April 2, 2011. In conjunction with the conference, the University of South Florida will host the NCECA 2011 National Student Juried Exhibition, March 21 -April 2, 2011. The NCECA 2011 NSJE is open to all full time undergraduate, graduate students and post-baccalaureate students (as defined by their home institution) enrolled in the United States of America.
