This self-directed residency is designed to provide a ceramic artist with studio access, as they make the transition from or between academic settings. Furthermore, the program is intended to allow a resident the time and space to pursue a body of work in a creative and energetic environment while enhancing the art program at Midwestern State University. The accepted artist will participate within the ceramics area as an informal collaborator and mentor for students, while working in the common studio space. Paper topics that address the theme, particularly submissions that take an interdisciplinary approach to material/visual culture, are welcome. Lillstreet’s Fourth Annual International Ceramics Exhibition:
Below the Surface
We are accepting applications for all functional ceramics vessels and ceramic vessels referencing function that pay special attention to surface treatment. The exhibition will run from August 26th – September 18th. All work submitted MUST be available for the entire exhibition, substitute pieces will not be accepted and work will be rejected if it is not the same piece that was accepted.
One $500 Award for First Place and
Two $100 Awards for Honorable Mentions
All Applications must be received by July 15th!
This years Juror is Matthew Metz:
Matthew Metz has been a making his living as a studio potter for the last 20 years. He shares a home and studio in Alfred Station, NY with potter/educator Linda Sikora. Awards he has received include a NEA Crafts Fellowship, and two McKnight Fellowships. He shows and sells his pottery throughout the U.S. and internationally- including the St. Croix Potter’s tour, the Old Church Pottery Show, and the Philadelphia Craft Show.

Florida Craftsmen’s CraftArt 2011 returns to the great outdoors on Saturday, November 19th & Sunday, November 20th, just outside the doors of Florida Craftsmen Gallery, at the crossroads of Central Avenue and Fifth Street North in beautiful Downtown St. Petersburg.
One of the most eagerly anticipated arts events each year by collectors and patrons, as well as by locals and visitors who plan a long weekend around the show, CraftArt features some of the nation’s best established and emerging fine craft artists with handmade works in jewelry, clay, fiber, glass, wood, metal, paper, mixed media, original woodcuts and lithographs.
