Burlington and Toronto
The
Art Gallery of Burlington in collaboration with Craft Ontario is
organizing the first Canadian Craft Biennial Conference to be held
September 15 and 16, 2017 in Burlington and Toronto, Ontario.
There
are eleven sessions covering a variety of themes and approaches. To
submit a proposal to a session, please send an abstract (250 words) with
your contact information, a short biography (100 words) to the convener
of the session you would like to join by 30 November 2016. The full description for each session can be found at canadiancraftbiennial.ca
Regular
sessions will include four (4) presentations of twenty (20) minutes
each followed by a question period. Number of Pecha Kucha presentations
in session five is at the discretion of the conveners. All sessions are 1
hour 45 minutes in length.

SHIMPO CERAMICS is looking for teabowls to showcase in our booth at the 2017 NCECA Conference in Portland, OR. Thirty teabowls will be selected for exhibit in the SHIMPO Booth where three winners will be announced!

About the Juror:
Born in Kobe, Kazu Oba spent his early years in Japan. He moved to Colorado in the 90’s and has called the Boulder area home ever since. He has continued to travel throughout the world for assistantships, workshops, and exhibitions. Kazu apprenticed under two masters, Jerry Wingren, a sculptor in stone and wood, then another master Takashi Nakazato, one of the world’s most renowned potters in Karatsu, one of the ceramic centers of Japan. Kazu’s pottery is dedicated to functional, everyday ware to be used in the home. His background as a chef distinctly influences his work, as he maintains a constant focus on the relationship between his pots and the food that will occupy them.

We all know that being an artist is an incredibly rewarding job but it’s also a lot of grueling hours and hard work. One of the most successful ways in which we as artists can help educate the buying public about the value of handmade objects is to share our stories and our processes with them.
Make and Do and National Clay Week want to share these unique stories and processes with the world. We’re asking you to share with us little peeks inside your studio to help share the “behind the scenes” of what goes into each mug, bowl, sculpture, and work of art.
It’s easy to participate:
Step one – go to work on Monday morning (October 10th)
Step two – take a picture of what you’re working on in the studio that day.
Step three – tag it with #mondaymorningmaker and @nationalclayweek and @make_and_do_ceramics
Step four – upload it to your instagram account.
The rest is up to us!
So sit back and follow @make_and_do_ceramics to see into the studios of artists around the world.
Some submissions will also be shared on @potsinaction on Monday so send us your best photos.

Ceramics Ireland invites all ceramic makers, living here and Irish makers abroad, to submit to a juried exhibition which will be launched at Farmleigh Gallery, Phoenix Park, June / Sept 2017 and then travel on to further venues.
Following on from the success of the Centred exhibition, 2014. Ceramics Ireland are delighted to announce that we will host Touchstone in 2017. This coincides with the 40th anniversary celebrations of Ceramics Ireland.
The show will be juried by an independent panel of three and will feature approx 40 artists.
