We are excited to announce the Call for Applicants for the 3rd annual Artaxis Fellowship. This year, we will be offering two fellowships, each one worth up to $2,000, to fund a two-week summer workshop in ceramics at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. The fellowships will cover room, board, and tuition for a two-week workshop, and up to $500 for travel to and from Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle, Maine, USA.The Fellowship is intended to increase diversity, equity, and access across the field of the ceramic arts. Therefore, Artaxis encourages artists of diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply.

This year’s Artaxis Fellowship Selection Committee, consisting of Eva Kwong, Crystal Morey, and Neha Kudchadkar  will select the recipient based on artistic merit and financial need. The two recipients will be able to attend a two-week workshop of their choice at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in the summer of 2018.

Eligibility:

  • The Fellowship is intended to increase diversity, equity, and access across the field of the ceramic arts. Therefore, Artaxis encourages artists of diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply.
  • Artists 18 years of age or older, at any stage of their career. Nominee does not need to be a student.
  • Artists must be able to demonstrate financial need and, if requested by the board, provide a copy of the first page of your most current tax return or other financial document.
  • The Fellowship is designed to offer an experience that would otherwise not be possible for the Nominee. To that end, any Nominee who has attended numerous workshops will not be considered in need.
  • This Fellowship is open to National and International applicants. Artaxis will provide International applicants with letters of invitation, but cannot offer additional funding or support with acquiring a visa.

The 2018 Artaxis Fellowship is supported by Artaxis members and funded by Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in an effort to nurture talent within creatively driven individuals by offering financial support to underrepresented artists.

Individual artists, as well as groups of artists, are invited to submit their artworks for the MARTINSONS AWARD International Ceramics Competition. The applicants are not restricted by age or nationality. Each applicant (individual artist or a group of artists) can submit only one artwork. Artists awarded with Gold, Silver or Bronze prizes in both National and International categories during MARTINSONS AWARD Competition in 2016, cannot participate in the Competition in 2018.

    GrowlerFest at the Brew House Association, connects artists to the craft beer movement, showcasing ties between food, beer and ceramics. It’s goal is to link craft breweries and the vitality of handmade pottery. GrowlerFest 2018 pairs invited Artists with an Open Call for beer growlers, jugs, and other containers used for storing or serving beer. Curated by Alexandra Jelleberg & Bradley Klem, the exhibition will be on view March 2-29, 2018 in the Brew House Association’s Gallery.

The BHA has emerged as a place where code writers mix with sculptors, artists evolve into entrepreneurs, and citizens from Pittsburgh’s South Side, Hilltop, and Mon Valley come to be creative. A former brewery located near Pittsburgh’s cultural district, it presents the perfect location for an exhibition centering on its historical purpose and contemporary identity.The exhibition will be comprised of two components, one being juried growlers from artists who answer an open call for entry, and another being growlers made by an invited list of artists. We will pair these two components in order to create a multi-faceted exhibition which fosters a particular aesthetic while sparking interest in the growler as a form. The events will feature beer tasting and local food and will be free and open to the public during the NCECA Conference.The public is invited to an exhibition and social gatherings centering on the beer growler.

The Alberta Craft Council is calling for exhibition proposals for the 2019 line-up of the Alberta Craft Gallery – Edmonton & Calgary.  The exhibition spaces are dedicated to showcasing work by emerging, mid-career, and established craft artists.  The Exhibition Team is looking for well-developed themes that highlight mastery in craftsmanship, features new work, pushes the boundaries of craft, and/or celebrates the achievements of our members.  Exhibitions can be individual or group shows.

Project Description

It’s goal is to create a “cross current” link between the craft brewery movement and the vitality of handmade pottery.
