Is Ceramics a Viable Option?

His work is represented in public collections including the National Gallery of Victoria, Powerhouse Museum, Artbank and the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, as well as regional galleries across Australia.
Michael has had a distinguished career as an arts educator and policy maker most recently as Head of Fine Arts Program UWS from 2003 to 2007, National President (Australia) International Association of Art (IAA), Chair of National Association of the Visual Arts (NAVA). 5Th Annual South Texas Ceramics Showdown
A two-day ceramics workshop takes place June 10 and 11 at STC’s Pecan Campus Art Building Ceramics Lab, Room 113. Art talks will take place Saturday, July 11 from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the same location. All this is free of charge.
Participants will see clay demonstrations and art talks by nationally recognized and distinguished ceramicists Ovidio Giberga and Paul Northway. Both artists’ work references and expresses personal ideas of identity, time and place. Also an exhibition of student work from regional campuses will be on display for a month.

Thomas Aitken and Kate Hyde will discuss aspects of their individual and collaborative ceramics practice, the challenges of making one’s living as a studio potter, objects that have influenced them and meanings special objects have in their lives.
