As promised here’s more pics from this weekend’s amazing workshop. I’m still buzzing with ideas and craving a good solid week in the studio (yeah right like my little guy will let me have that! ) to work through some new ideas I’ve got thanks to all the inspiration.

So I realize I’ve been fairly quiet on the blog lately. I’ve been busy with making work for a big show, enjoying my garden, spending time in the sun with my family and having a blast hosting a visit from Hawaiian born ceramic artist Daven Hee. I first met Daven when we were both grad students at the Australian National University. When he mentioned he was going to visit the mainland I knew I had to get him out for a workshop. Last night he had us laughing like mad at his artist talk and today’s workshop was filled with amazing insight into his process and some lovely, lovely pots. I can’t wait for tomorrow’s demos. Here’s a brief look at today’s highlights, more later…

So I was recently presented with the challenge to compile a Top 10 list of ceramics blogs. Quite the honor to be asked, I soon discovered exactly how difficult this task would actually be. I spent a few days filtering through my blogroll and bookmarks, re-aquainting myself with old favorites, friends and ceramic practices from all over the world. What this left me with was an insanely long list of fantastic blogs and a road block of how I was going to narrow down all of these blogs, the individual lives, practices and fantastic work behind them. Well it had to be done so if you head over to blogs.com you’ll find my final selection. I’m sure there are many that would compile a very different list than this and again my favorites list was long…I’d love to hear though in the comments what would be your Top 10.
Cheers

After last month’s Artist of the Day, I’m left craving images of beautiful pots. I’ve been tied up in the studio and garden this month working away and admitedly intentionally trying to avoid my computer as the sun is finally shinning (and it doesn’t last long enough in this neck of the woods). But I couldn’t resist taking a break and indulging in some great ceramic eye candy when I saw Micheal Kline’s new work on exhibition at the Ferrin Gallery.

I love how the firing process softens the contrast of the imagery with the white surface. Check out the show online here or take a peek at the process behind the magic on his blog Sawdust and Dirt.

Been searching for ceramic molds? Head over to Bella Joy Pottery for a list of molds she’s trying to get rid of to clean out her garage. Free molds (you pay the shipping) how could you go wrong?

If you know my functional work then you’ll know that I’m really interested in the relationship between the handmade and industrial ceramics. I try with my work to bridge the “gap” that exists, in our relationship to, interaction with and the design possibilities of both the handmade and the industrial.
So I’m super excited to see a show such as Object Factory: The Art of Industrial Ceramics (currently at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York) online with lots of yummy pictures to inspire. There’s an amazing list of artist/designers in the show, too many to name, but it was curated by Mark Cecula so you know it’ll be good. So take some time, grab a cup of tea and check it out here.
