The show features work born out of a collaboration between Marney McDiarmid, wire artist Maggie Hogan, and photographer Jeffery Barbeau. The pieces will be on display until November 13th in conjunction with paintings by Nava Waxman.

Ceramic artists included are John Chalke RCA, Bradley Keys, Les Manning, Robin, Dupont, Emily Schroeder Willis, Ed Bamiling, Neil Liske, Sean Kunz, Fran Cuyler, Do-Hee Sung, Priscilla Janes, and more. In addition, historic works by past Royal Canadian Academy artist Luke Lindoe rounds out the exhibition.

“This annual event draws up to 90 potters members of the London Potters Association together in London at Morley Colleges’ Gallery.
The exhibition is open to all members, who are requested to submit three pieces of work and are accepted on a “first come, first served” basis. The exhibitors are strictly limited to 90 and range from well-known ceramicists to newly graduated makers, from professional to amateurs potters. This is an excellent show and often provides exciting and surprising work and can also be a good source for that extra Christmas present.

“Cups today and throughout history have reflected the way we live. Whether it’s function is utilitarian, or an abstraction of an idea, this simple form is complex. Artists have been selected for this exhibit to represent how they interpret the ceramic cup through their range of processes, influences, and intentions. This exhibit will feature over 375 cups representing more than 80 of the finest ceramic artists. The exhibit is curated by Jason Bige Burnett.

Steve Harrison has been creating ceramics of great subtlety and beauty for over 40 years. He makes objects of contemplation and beauty with subtle, simple lines and great charm. These pieces are created from only the local rocks, shales and ashes that he collects from his immediate locality in the Southern Highlands. These are then hand sorted and ground to provide the bodies and glazes used here. His work is gently woodfired to create subtle fired surfaces that suggest softness and depth. His work shows some oriental characteristics that have been influenced by his time spent travelling and studying in Japan and china as well as Europe. Roxanne Lillis These are precious objects from a familiar world. In this body of work I attempt to express or exemplify something intuitive. Obvious, yet elusive. They are at once recognisable however possess a changing aesthetic when grouped with other objects or portrayed as a solitary form. My painting endeavours to capture the love of their making, with adjustments of composition, scale, and the use of negative space, using a subtle palette. Breathing Colours Gallery
Bob Reimer passed away October 20th at the age of 57. Born August. 11, 1954, in Steinbach Manitoba, Bob lived most of his life in British Columbia before moving to Calgary in 1980 to start his family and ceramics career. He leaves behind three children; Julia, Peter and Angela, four grand-children, his former partner and best friend Jeannie, a community of friends, colleagues and students. Bob was known as a passionate, loving, talented and humorous individual, an asset to the ceramics community and a beloved teacher. He touched many lives. He will be remembered fondly, and thought of daily. No words can describe the grief we are all feeling while coping with this sudden loss. We take comfort in knowing he did not suffer, he was happy and loved by many. A special thanks for all the support received from friends and family.
