Call for artists: FUSION Mentorship Workshops 2012/2013 – OTTAWA

proud to announce the launch of the Ottawa Region Mentorship – “the Ten
Month Workshop.” These workshops are intended to be significant
learning experiences that are transformative for the participating
artists. A maximum of ten participants per workshop will be asked to
take creative risks. The workshop will begin with a session during which
participants will present their work and their goals for the workshop.
Each participant will then be asked to set learning goals and objectives
for the duration of the workshop. The group will meet over the next ten
months to review their progress, participate in group critiques, and
revise objectives as necessary. The workshop will culminate in an
exhibition.

TO QUALIFY

You should be actively involved in an artistic practice, producing work, exhibiting, and should:


have completed three years of study or the equivalent. Self educated
artists with no formal training but plenty of experience are encouraged
to apply.

• be willing to make a ten month commitment.


through discussions with the mentor and others in the group, be
prepared to set yourself learning goals and be willing to take risks
with your work and accept criticism in a constructive manner.

• meet the criteria established by the mentor described above.

• be a member of FUSION.

Call for entry: Geelong Regional Artists Exhibition

Are you a regional artist looking for an opportunity to showcase your work?  
The Gordon Gallery is now seeking applications for this annual exhibition.
THE GEELONG REGIONAL ARTISTS EXHIBITION
is an annual event on The Gordon Gallery Calendar. Now in its tenth
year, this exhibition is designed to celebrate and promote the
extraordinary artistic talent of the region. It provides local artists
with the opportunity to further develop and professionalise their
artistic practise.
Criteria:  
  • The Gordon Gallery will accept
    contemporary works in any medium such as painting, printmaking,
    photography, sculpture, glass, ceramics, textiles, jewellery,
    performance art or new media.
  • Applicants must either have been born,
    currently live, or have resided within the boundaries of the City of
    Greater Geelong, the Borough of Queenscliff, Surf Coast, or Golden
    Plains Shires for a period of at least six months.

Artist-in-Residence Program at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Eight month residency positions available in Ceramics, Sculpture, 2D media, and Jewelry.
 
Residency Period: September 1, 2012 – May 1, 2013
 
Residency Requirements:
At least 20 hours weekly on premise (producing your work)
Be
responsible for keeping facilities and equipment clean for others’ use
and undertake regular maintenance and organizational tasks necessary for
upkeep of communal studio (average of 15-20 hours a week)
Participation in the collective life of the studio
Up to 10 hours annually of community outreach (slide lectures or demonstrations)
Be a monitor for studio hours and assist Master Artist Workshops when needed
Contribute a piece to an annual Armory Art Center Fundraiser
Participate in Armory special events as needed
 
Residents will receive:
Semi-private studio space
Generous monthly stipend
Paid teaching opportunities
Exhibition opportunities
Free firing privileges and use of studio glazes
