The oh so awesome Plate a Day blog (one of my faves!) is having a contest you definitely have to check out.
Here’s the details via the blog:
“Plate #300 is due on Monday, December 14th, and we’re looking for your ideas. This time we’re asking everyone to post images to our newly formed Flickr group, located here. If you can’t post to Flickr, you can leave your submission in the comments on this post. And for Flickr members who love clay, feel free to use our other group for all other photos, located here.We have a new judge for the contest, the lovely Leili Towfigh. Leili is an artist and educational technologist who works with whatever strikes her fancy: clay, paint, film, pixel, pencil, ranunculus, rusted metal, wool, felt, linoleum, wood, etc. She writes a monthly column, Eye to I, about fine arts and inspiration for Soul Pancake, and muses about art and the creative process on Beyond the Picture.The winner will get their plate posted on Monday, December 14th as post #300. And! That lucky person will also get one of the amazing porcelain plates pictured above from the studio of Yasha Butler. Once again, thank you so much for all of the nice notes you’ve left on the blog. Now, let’s see those plates :)Rules:

The Contemporary Artists Center has recently opened its newest international artists’ residency program on the campus of the Woodside National Historic Register Site in Troy, NY, and is now accepting applications for the first Winter/Spring season.
DEADLINE DEC 15th – Just two weeks left to apply.
The CAC focuses on emerging contemporary artists and accepts applicants who offer quality in their art and encourages diversity of style, medium (2-D, 3-D, 4-D) and concepts.
The residency program can be from 2 weeks to six months and offers artists the time and support to create new work and fosters an environment that encourages creativity, experimentation, and collaboration.
Our facility features high-ceiling, adaptable studio space in a 150-year-old Neo-gothic chapel, open 24 hours a day with some specialized studio facilities, exhibition space, and free access to all CAC events. The living area includes lofted bedrooms, living room / library, dining room, and kitchen & bath.
Spend your winter creating in the company of other artists!

The successful candidate will have excellent hand building and throwing skills and possess thorough knowledge of glazing chemistry and the history of ceramics. Knowledge of current trends in sculpture including installations and experience with down draft gas powered kilns as well as a proven exhibition record required. Job Description:
The Department of Art at the State University of New York at Oswego announces the opening of a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Ceramics.Description of Responsibilities:
- Primary teaching responsibilities include Introductory and Advanced Ceramics
- Secondary teaching responsibilities include 3-D Design and/or Sculpture
- Additional teaching responsibility includes expanding knowledge of diversity, historical, theoretical, critical and contemporary global/multicultural practices in the visual arts.
- Further teaching responsibilities include kiln firing, and management of a large ceramics studio.
- Departmental responsibilities include being involved with program planning, assessment, and curriculum development.
- Other Departmental/University responsibilities include staying current on health and safety issues; participation in campus governance, department service, and academic advising; commitment to research/creative activity.
Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, the Art Department has over 300 undergraduate majors in degree programs in Art, Art History and Graphic Design. These programs include the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA). Additionally, undergraduates can elect to minor in art, graphic design, expressive art therapy, museum studies, or arts management. The Department also offers an MA degree in Art and Graphic Design as well as an MAT in Art Education.Requirements:

- MFA with concentration in ceramics
- Demonstrated teaching ability and knowledge to promote students’ ability to succeed in a multicultural and global community
- An active art career as evidenced by current work and exhibitions
