Ceramics Monthly, Emerging Artists 2011, call for submissions
In May 2011, Ceramics Monthly will feature the works of emerging clay artists. Those actively pursuing a career in ceramics for less than ten years are eligible. To be considered, submit the following:
-Up to five professional-quality digital images (300 ppi resolution on a CD, plus a full-size color print of each image), with complete descriptions of works.
-Full contact information including email, artist’s statement and resume. Mail to: Emerging Artist, Ceramics Monthly, 600 N. Cleveland Avenue Suite 210, Westerville, Ohio, 43082 Do not submit materials in binders or folders. Emailed submissions and submissions of more than five images will not be considered. REMINDER: The 9th International Ceramics Competition Mino, Japan: call for entries
There is no specified theme. Entries should not conform to traditional concepts and the works should show imagination and inspiration; work that will shape the future of ceramics. Entry Categories: 1. Ceramics Design, Factory Design entries for factory produced pieces with practical functionality. (Items mass produced mainly on the machinery of a factory assembly line). 2. Ceramics Design, Studio Design entries for studio produced pieces with practical functionality. (Items from individuals, mainly produced by hand in small quantities). 3. Ceramic Arts Entries for ceramic art works that incorporate unique creativity and techniques. The Crafts and Design program requires a full-time Professor for the Ceramics Studio. The Professor, in addition to teaching courses in the Ceramics program, will be the Studio Head and will have responsibilities for the studio and program administration. As Studio Head, the Professor will work collaboratively to provide academic leadership transforming a 3 year Advanced Diploma into a 4 year Applied Degree Program. Eligibility is limited to artists, artist teams, and independent curators who reside in King County, WA and are not represented by a commercial gallery at the time of application. Members of artist run collectives and cooperative galleries are eligible. Artists working in all media and genres are encouraged to apply, including those whose medium or method of work is under-represented in commercial galleries. A Selection Panel composed of regional arts professionals and artists reviews exhibition proposals and awards eleven exhibition opportunities for the upcoming gallery season (September 2011 through August 2012). The composition of the Panel changes yearly. The Panel considers geographic and cultural diversity as well as a wide variety of genres and media; final selection is based on artistic merit and strength of the proposal. An applicant’s images and statement must clearly convey their ability to execute their proposed exhibition. This is an online application only.
