Call for 2013 NCECA PROGRAM PROPOSALS
NCECA 2013 – 47th Annual Conference
March 20-23, 2013
Ceramics and Ceramic Process bring together two essential elements:
EARTH and ENERGY. The theme of NCECA’s 2013 Conference in Houston,
Earth/Energy pays tribute to the places we live and create, the
materials we use, and the ENERGY that drives our process as ceramic
artists, educators and enthusiasts.
The ENERGY of creation and transformation culminates in work
with ENERGIZED forms and surfaces, work that ENERGIZES space and
ultimately this ENERGIZES our imaginations.
New ENERGY sources and innovations may result in work that is
EARTH friendly and, in this global era, we often aim to make work that
is EARTH conscious.
NCECA invites proposals for programming including lectures,
panels and topical discussions that explore the synthesis and
multi-faceted nature Earth/Energy may inspire, as well as proposals that
relate to the region of Houston as relevant to our field.
TOPICS FOR PROPOSALS
For the 47th annual meeting of NCECA in Houston, Texas we call
for proposals of lectures and panel discussions relating to issues of
earth and energy, as well as issues specific to this region and
location. As always, we also welcome proposals on all subjects
relevant to our field. Submissions will be evaluated in regard to
merit, the presenter’s expertise in the area, and a general interest in
providing a balanced and inclusive program for the members. The
general categories for proposals are as follows:
∙ Aesthetics, Critical Theory and Practice,
including presentations about concepts of beauty and value, art
attitudes, art in society, content and interpretation, analysis and
evaluation.

traditional and non-traditional artists and movements, styles, surveys
