The North Carolina Pottery Center is currently accepting applications for residency positions of varying lengths, typically of three to six months duration. The duration may depend on what the artist wishes to accomplish, amount of available studio space at the center at any given time, and other factors. Candidates with BFA’s, MFA’s, or equivalent life experience, are invited to apply.
A recent grant from the Windgate Charitable Foundation has enabled the Pottery Center to reinstitute its Artist-in-Residence program.
Resident Artists
Resident artists will be selected from a pool of applicants from across the country and abroad. Residents will be chosen based on their goals (as expressed in their proposals), their previous and current work, and ensuring a diverse synergy that benefits both the resident artists (personally as well as professionally) and enhances the center’s educational programs and programming.
Residents will be provided with a stipend (generally $500 per month), free housing (if they choose to use it) and electricity, studio space, and up to 250 pounds of clay each month in exchange for assistance with studio upkeep, event support, workshops, and occasional teaching responsibilities.

Visiting Artists
Professional visiting artists may also be invited to spend time at the center during residency periods to showcase their special skills and provide thoughtful insight and encourage residents to find ways to expand their own skillsets.

About this Residency:
This Residency is ideal for committed individuals interested in pursuing the development of their professional artistic careers through an immersive experience as part of the Clay Center community. LTR’s are awarded on an initial one-year commitment with the option for a second year renewal. Individuals searching for the time, space, and resources needed to explore new ideas and create work will enjoy our friendly community and the rural mountainous setting. Accepted residents will be provided numerous financial and professional benefits including a monthly cash stipend, annual material & firing budget, 24/7 access to a private studio space, housing, as well as exhibition and networking opportunities in exchange for 20 hours of work per week at the Clay Center. Responsibilities will include assisting in the retail operation of the gallery, teaching community clay classes, as well as cleaning and maintenance of the studio and gallery. Eligibility:
We accept applications from emerging, to post-bacc, post-graduate, and artists with equivalent educations. RLCC requires that applicants be at least 18 years or older, have a valid US driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and have the knowledge and experience to work independently in the studio. In addition, we ask all RLCC Residents to be part of our active and vital community; this includes interacting with Clay Center customers, Visiting Artists, Staff, and fellow residents with a professional and courteous demeanor. International applicants are welcome to apply, but must meet the above requirements as well as any necessary immigration visa requirements in accordance with current US laws. RLCC will provide a letter of sponsorship and limited logistical support, but International applicants will be responsible for securing the required Visa/work permit and any related costs incurred.
Housing & Studio:
All Long-Term residents will receive year-round housing (free of charge), fully furnished, which includes all utilities and off-street parking. LTR lodging is a large house, the “Salmon House”, with three individual apartments, two single-occupancy and one double-occupancy. Residents will be assigned to individual apartments or the top-floor shared apartment depending on availability and/or individual circumstances. Please keep in mind that there is a strict, “no pet” policy for all RLCC housing and studios. The “Fox Studio” is RLCC’s Resident and Staff studio facility which boasts a variety of kilns, equipment, and individual studio spaces. It is located 6 miles north of town making an individual vehicle necessary for each LTR. Each resident will receive a personal 10×12 (120 sq. ft.) studio space as well as access to the larger communal space.

Together, the Yukon Arts Centre, Parks Canada and the US National Park Service are providing an opportunity for established visual artists to pursue their work amidst history and nature on the Chilkoot Trail. Artists will hike the entire trail during a two week backpacking trip, spending one to three days at each campsite. Each artist will be required to provide and carry all of their backpacking gear, food and art supplies for the journey (though food caches are available, provided artists arrange delivery in time for May flights). Bringing a support person, friend or family, is highly recommended. That person will help share the load and enhance safety while travelling, camping and working in bear country. Each of the artists chosen will travel during separate two-week periods. Artists will receive up to $100 USD support from Skagway Arts Council in purchasing necessary art supplies and will receive a $3000 CAD honorarium from the Yukon Arts Centre. The residency will occur over a two-week period between late June and early August.
This residency is open to applicants of any nationality for the 2020 edition. Artists applying for the 2020 residency are required to apply before the deadline of February 1st, 2019.

The Department of Art at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for a Transformation Fellow for a term from February 19 to April 6, 2019.
During the course of their term here, the Transformation Fellow will support diversity, equity, and inclusion as a critic and mentor within the Bachelor of Arts (BA) Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) programs and engage with communities at UNLV and in Las Vegas at large.
While there are no formal teaching requirements for the Transformation Fellow, this is a “working” residency program. In addition to the primary objective of furthering one’s creative or critical practice during their time in Las Vegas, Fellows will be asked to fulfill at least 6 hours/week in service work with, and on behalf of, the Department of Art. In addition to conducting studio visits with students, attending Spring semester Graphic Design and Media programming, BFA and MFA Thesis and Midway exhibitions, and participating in discussions and group critiques of student work, the Fellow’s plan should include a community engagement component. This may involve the following types of activities which relate to the Transformation Fellow’s own creative practice, skills, and interests:
hosting a short series of salons or pop-up exhibitions to address key topics of relevance to artists, designers, and the Las Vegas community;
presenting a public lecture;
activating a collaboration between Department of Art students and the local community or a local non-profit organization.
The fellow will have 24-hour access to a studio space. An 8,000 USD honorarium, and a 2,000 USD housing/travel stipend will be provided. The Department of Art will serve as a resource and help facilitate introductions to students and the local community. There will be a separate budget for engagements.
The Transformation Fellow will be an artist, scholar, designer, educator, curator, or community arts leader who has at least one solo exhibition, publication, or significant public or collaborative project of note. This position is open to those who have a terminal degree or comparable experience and those who have followed traditional and nontraditional paths.

Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill is currently offering a 3-month Ceramic Artist in Residence Program during the winter of 2019. Our goal is to give driven and self-directed artists the opportunity to enhance their personal, intellectual and creative growth by expanding their body of work or creating a specific project. Free from the distractions of everyday pressures, residents will be given time and space to concentrate on their work in the beautiful setting of Cape Cod and will be granted a shared exhibition in the Castle Hill gallery upon completion of their stay.
The residency runs from January 2 to March 31, 2019 and includes housing and studio space for $600/month. A total of two residents will be selected based on a review of application materials. Each resident will have a personal workspace in a shared studio and open access to the communal ceramics studio and kilns. Materials and firing fees are payable through Castle Hill at a discounted rate. Residents will share a furnished 2 bedroom apartment equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, living room, laundry, and internet access. It is highly recommended to have a car, as there are limited public transportation options and no grocery store within walking distance.
The ceramics facility at Castle Hill offers all standard studio equipment including wheels and a slab roller, as well as many kilns in excellent condition including several programmable electric kilns, a Bailey gas kiln, raku, salt, and a train style wood kiln. The studio barn is nestled in the gentle hills of Truro Massachusetts, just steps from the ocean. The Cape is rich with nature, art activities, beaches, and small-town charm.
