The New Hampshire Institute of Art is pleased to announce the Ceramics Biennial Exhibition 2012, a national juried exhibition for clay artists. This exhibition will be on display in the Amherst Street Gallery.
James Lawton is currently a Professor of Ceramics and Chair of the
Artisanry Department at the College of Visual and Performing Arts, Umass
Dartmouth. Lawton’s work is in the collections of the Renwick Gallery,
Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC; the Victoria and Albert
Museum, London; L.A. County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CA; the Mint
Museum, Charlotte, NC; the Museum of Ceramic Art, Alfred, NY; and the
Icheon World Ceramic Center, South Korea, among others; and in numerous
private collections. He maintains studios in both Massachusetts and
South Carolina and frequently leads workshops and presents lectures
across the country and abroad.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTE The New Hampshire Institute
of Art was established as the Manchester Institute of Arts and Sciences
in 1898. From the Institute’s outset, it has had a firm commitment to
educating diverse traditional and nontraditional students in the fine
arts. As the only independent college of art in the state accredited by
the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), the
Institute offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Certificate Programs,
and a strong Continuing Education program. A dedicated faculty promotes
intellectual and artistic development and teaches students to respond
artistically to contemporary social, political, and aesthetic issues.
We are pleased to be holding our fifth annual international call for entries, Beyond the Brickyard.
The selected works will be exhibited at the Archie Bray Foundation in
January 2013. This year’s exhibition will be juried by 2012 Voulkos
Fellow Andrea Gill.

Submissions must be received online by September 15, 2012, midnight MST.
Entry Fee
The cost of entering Beyond the Brickyard is $35 USD for up to 3 works. All major credit cards are accepted.
Awards
From the successful entrants, three awards will be selected:
Juror’s Choice Award: $400
Director’s Choice Award: $400
People’s Choice Award: $100
Sales Commission
Artists will receive 55% commission of their work sold during exhibition, while ABF will retain 45%.

Lillstreet Gallery enhances the educational mission of Lillstreet Art Center,
the institution in which it is housed, by offering students and
visitors an opportunity to explore and be inspired by the work of
emerging and established artists. It also supports the endeavors of
those artists by providing a retail venue for their distinctive,
hand-made ceramics, jewelry, and textiles. Thematic exhibitions and
special events punctuate our ongoing display of functional art, creative
toys, cards, art books, and DIY projects for sale in the Artisan Gift
Shop.
We are seeking gallery interns year-round.
Duties: The gallery
intern will assist the Gallery Director in all aspects of daily
operations including: artwork packaging, handling, and installation;
marketing gallery exhibitions; maintaining collector database and
analyzing sales data; managing online gallery; corresponding with
artists; customer service; product merchandising; other duties, as
assigned.
Qualifications: Applicants
should have a demonstrated interest in the visual arts, arts
administration, or arts marketing/sales. They should also be energetic
and comfortable working in a fast-paced and creative environment.
Experience working in a gallery or retail store/boutique is a plus. Some
experience with content management systems (for website maintenance),
basic photo editing, and graphic design skills highly preferred.
Compensation: Students
enrolled in a degree-seeking program will receive college credit as
allowed by their institution. Those not enrolled in a college program
may apply and will receive Lillstreet Art Center classes in exchange
for hours worked.
Hours and Duration: Interns should expect to commit to a minimum of 10 hours a week for three to six months.
Deadlines: Applications
are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year.
However, an new intern is typically selected three times per year for
the Fall, Spring and Summer terms. Please indicate which term you are
applying for on your application.
