CALL FOR ENTRIES: INT’L CERAMICS COMPETITION OF L’ALCORA, SPAIN

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: APRIL 30, 2010 The Town Council of L’Alcora, announces its call for entries for the 30th edition of the International Ceramics Competition of L’Alcora 2010, organised by a Commission designated to that effect. All participants are entitled to present a maximum of two works of art created with ceramic materials, which must be original and unique. Entries created by non ceramic procedures, works of an industrial nature or those who have entered in another competitions will not be admitted. Works must not exceed 2 metres long in any of their dimensions. Entries not measuring 30 cm long or wide will not be accepted. Entries must be sent to the Secretaría del Concurso (Museo de Cerámica, C/ Teixidors, 5 – E12110 L’Alcora · Spain) before April 30th, 2010. All entries must include a properly completed application form, and the author or authors’ curriculum vitae. Registration will be able by e-mail [email protected], also attaching the curriculum vitae. A maximum of three images with neutral background (either printed or in jpg format -200 dpi minimum) must be attached to each work of art. Finalist entries must be sent to the L’Alcora Ceramics Museum before June 18th, 2010. Those works who break this term will be excluded from the competition. MacDowell Colony, Artist ResidencyThe MacDowell Colony is designed to facilitate a balance between a focus on work and interdisciplinary interaction. Private studios are available to artists 24 hours a day along with the dining and recreation rooms at Colony Hall, providing an environment adaptable to each individual’s needs. To ensure the autonomy and privacy of all Colonists, no one may visit a studio without an invitation. Breakfast and dinner are served in the dining room while lunch is delivered to each studio. After dinner, occasional presentations are a traditional, elective part of the stimulating and supportive environment. Readings, slide shows, open studios, and informal performances allow Colonists to become acquainted with and inspired by one another’s work. Friendships established among artists-in-residence often lead to collaborations and connections beyond the Colony. APPLY: Residencies are awarded based on a completed application to the Colony.
