call for entry: MWSU Clay Guild – Twin Cups – National Ceramic Exhibition

The Missouri Western State University Clay Guild is sponsoring a National Ceramic Exhibition titled Twin Cups. The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older residing in the U.S. Submitted artworks may be either functional or sculptural representations of a pair of cups, mugs, or drinking vessels, etc. A $30.00 jury fee entitles each artist to submit a maximum of three entries (each entry consisting of a set of two). Artworks must have been completed within the last two years.
 
Juror: Bede Clarke
Bede Clarke has been a Professor of Art at the University of Missouri since 1992. He received his Master of Fine Arts from The University of Iowa (1990) and a BFA from Eckerd College (1982). Bede’s work is found in collections in the U.S. and abroad, such as the: University of Northern Arizona, Ichon World Ceramic Center, Racine Art Museum, Bermuda National Gallery and Martin Museum of Art.

Bede maintains a studio in Columbia, Missouri where he produces his ceramic artwork and continues to exhibit worldwide, recently at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Jacksonville, FL Yingge Ceramics Museum 2012 Taiwan Ceramics Biennale, Taipei, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans, LA.
          
He is a recipient of:
•Kansas City Artist Coalition’s, Lighton International Artist Exchange Award (2007)
• Sturt Australian Contemporary Craft Center Residency Award (2007)
• Fletcher Challenge Ceramic Award, (1996)
• Kennedy Center Fellowship for Teachers of the Arts (1987)

Awards: Awards will be selected at the sole discretion of the juror.

job posting: Assistant Professor Ceramics and Sculpture – Eastern Oregon University

Eastern Oregon University seeks a uniquely qualified, creative individual to
teach a broad range of courses in ceramics and sculpture. The ideal
candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach introductory,
intermediate, and advanced sculpture and ceramics courses, as well as
mentor majors within the capstone sequence. The Art Department at
Eastern Oregon University is a small, interdisciplinary and close-knit
program housed within the College of Arts and Sciences. In addition to
teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will maintain an
active studio practice, oversee the 3-D studios, participate in
departmental activities, committee service to the institution, and
academic advising. This is a full-time tenure track appointment at the
rank of Assistant Professor. This position will begin fall of 2016.
