Boise State University is currently accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track position in Ceramics beginning fall 2010. Boise State University’s ceramics program has a thriving and long standing history within the community at large. The program brings in nationally recognized ceramic visiting artists to the community for workshops and lectures.

You will have the opportunity to:
* Teach 3 courses each semester in all levels of undergraduate ceramics.
* Teach courses in undergraduate seminar and three-dimensional design on a rotating basis.
* Participate in a vibrant and growing MFA graduate program.
* Actively participate in departmental and university service including curriculum development.
* Maintain a strong national/international exhibition record.
* Provide supervision, maintenance, safety, improvement and efficacy of the ceramics facilities and program.

At a minimum you should have:
* MFA in Visual Art.
* Two years post-graduate teaching experience is preferred.
* Extensive knowledge in all the core methodologies, techniques and processes involved in ceramic art.

The preferred candidate will have:
* Distinguished research and professional experience in the medium, and within the larger framework of visual art.
* Extensive knowledge of historical and contemporary studies and practices that engage ceramics as a method of inquiry and visual communication.
* Developed educational strategies for providing meaningful professional and academic guidance to students engaged in the program, within the department and the field of visual art as a whole.

Include 20 images of current work and 20 images of student work (sized to 800 pixels longest dimension at 72 dpi) with image ID list. Include titles and image ID number in file names. All application materials must be submitted as a single file in digital form (PDF format only) and included on a Mac compatible CD/DVD. Time-based work, if applicable, must be a separate file on the CD in a standard video format (Quicktime preferred) and no longer than five minutes. Materials not conforming to these specifications will not be considered.

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago seeks an exceptional artist for a full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Ceramics, beginning Fall 2010. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience, teaching, and current professional status. The Ceramics Department is one of twenty departments at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The department is administered by a full-time faculty member as chair, and offers 25 undergraduate courses each academic year as part of the School’s comprehensive BFA program. Ceramics has 10 graduate students with studios in the department who work with faculty through Graduate Projects—individual tutorial sessions. There are currently two full-time senior faculty, a full-time visiting artist, and six part-time faculty. Qualifications: The successful candidate will be an accomplished, versatile artist with relevant teaching experience, and expertise in contemporary approaches, concepts, techniques, and critical issues as they pertain to ceramics and art in general. In a department dedicated to the innovation and investigation of ceramics in a contemporary art context, with teaching specialties ranging from vessels to designed objects and installations, we seek artists that embrace the contradictions of the medium to complement the current faculty’s wide range of traditional and new genre specializations. Areas of expertise might include: sculpture, architecture, ornamentation, utility and function, craft and objects, painting and ceramics, vessel making, 3-D digital fabrication/rapid prototyping, practical design/build techniques, traditional processes and/or emerging material processes, interest in digital technology, ceramics history and theory. Demonstrable skills and techniques will be thoroughly integrated into the conceptual frameworks of professional practice. Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate level ceramic classes and mentor students within the context of an interdisciplinary art and design school, maintain an active professional practice, and participate in the development of the department and in faculty governance of the School. The ability to communicate with students on multiple levels, and eagerness to teach and develop both graduate and undergraduate programs is essential. Candidates will be interested and able to engage in future curricular and facilities planning as an aspect of the ongoing conversation about the evolution and future of the discipline. Call for Images – New book to be published.


Call For Submissions You are invited to submit high-resolution, high-quality, digital images to be considered for inclusion in The Slab Roller Book to be compiled and written by Daryl E. Baird, author of The Extruder Book (2000, The American Ceramic Society). Publication is targeted for July, 2011. The images you submit should be of finished ceramic art or functional objects that were substantially made with the use of a slab roller.

Submission Deadline: Your submission MUST be received by November 30, 2009.

Circle Craft Call for exhibitions

Applications for an exhibition are welcome from Circle Craft members and non-members working in British Columbia.The Gallery programme of ten shows between February and November is planned more than year in advance. We are currently accepting applications for 2011 shows. The deadline for applications is Dec 31, 2009. The Gallery Committee is responsible for selecting exhibitors. Commission on gallery sales is 40% for members and 45% for non-members.

Call for Artists: Red Deer College Artist in Residence Spaces

Red Deer College has expanded the Visual Art Facility and now has three Artist in Residence Studios. Each studio is 250 square feet with easy access to the main studio areas, which are as well equipped as any other in Western Canada! Our residence program is new and is committed to providing a positive environment for artists to complete visual arts projects.

We are interested in hosting both emerging and established artists of all disciplines, practices, and nationalities. Applying artist should have a current and active practice and have completed their basic training.
