Magic Dirt National Juried Exhibition

Baron and Ellin Gordon Art Galleries at Old Dominion University, located in Norfolk, Virginia, announce a call for entry for the Magic Dirt Exhibition. Magic Dirt is the miracle of earth, fire and the human imagination. The exhibition will be juried by Juan Granados and Richard Nickel and is designed to showcase innovative contemporary ceramic sculpture and functional vessels. Size Limitations: Works should be no larger than 36 inches in any direction and with a total weight not to exceed 30 lbs. Magic Dirt is open to all artists in the United States. Work should be made within the past 2 years and a majority of the work should be ceramic. Entry fee is 25.00 for three entries. The exhibition will run January 15 – February 20, 2011 with a reception on Friday January 21, 2011 at Baron and Ellin Gordon Art Galleries, Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. Applications are welcomed from professionals in the field of ceramics. Applicants may not be students and may not have received major national attention for their work, (e.g. a one-person exhibition at a nationally prominent gallery or museum).

IRISH CRAFT PORTFOLIO 2011

Irish Craft Portfolio was established to to ‘promote the work of individuals showing excellence in craftsmanship at an international level’. Since its establishment it has represented the work of an increasing number of craftspeople who aim to produce high quality limited edition and one off craftwork for the commissioning and gallery market. There are currently over forty craftspeople represented by the initiative.
Makers interested in applying for the 2011 selection should contact Des Doyle, Collector Programme Manager for an application form.Closing date for completed applications is October 1st 2010. Selection will take place in October and announcement of successful applicants will be made in November 2010.
