IU Southeast seeks an outstanding artist/educator for a full time ten-month appointment of Visiting Assistant Professor beginning August 2011. This position is a one-year appointment with possibility of renewal. The position requires competence in a wide range of drawing processes/techniques with a secondary emphasis in either ceramics or painting. The successful candidate will teach drawing from beginning to advanced levels, and possibly entry-level courses in color and painting or ceramics, depending on area of expertise.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in representational drawing with conceptually interdisciplinary ideas, will be knowledgeable about contemporary art issues and theory, and will have a broad understanding of new approaches to art making. Applicants must demonstrate strong teaching skills and a broad range of knowledge in drawing (material, technique, form, and content).
This position will require: (1) assessing, advising and mentoring students; (2) participating in recruitment, retention and promotion of the IU Southeast Fine Arts program; (3) maintaining studio facilities; (4) participating in program/school/campus service and student activities and performing related professional duties; (5) maintaining an active professional practice and exhibition record in addition to displaying a commitment to teaching at the University level (6) working collegially with diverse points of view to make decisions.
Qualifications:
MFA degree and graduate TA teaching experience required. At least two years of teaching experience at the college-level beyond graduate assistantships is preferred. An active current professional practice and exhibition record is also required.

The Studio Manager in the point-of-contact for new and current studio members, Artists-in-Residence, and students. A successful Studio Manager is reliable, organized, takes initiative, works independently, and has excellent communication and management skills. (S)he will be responsible for the smooth operation of the ceramics studio, maintaining cleaning and maintenance schedules, and enforcing studio policies. Cleanliness is very important. (S)he must be able to manage inventory and organize/initiate orders of required materials and equipment. Communicating studio material and financial needs with GM is a regular occurrence. The Studio Manager will be responsible for the administration and hiring of class and workshop instructors, as well as assisting in the preparation and operation of workshops and special events.
Red Star Studios is a growing organization, with an entrepreneurial spirit. The Studio Manager has substantial input on studio policies and programming and, as such, this position has great potential to grow with the organization.
Requirements:
-Must have experience as a ceramics Studio Manager and a desire to teach and mentor.
-Experienced in throwing and sculpting clay, as well as the firing and loading/unloading of natural gas and electric kilns.
-An overall understanding of glazes, various clay bodies, along with other materials and tools used in the ceramic arts.
-Basic Computer skills. Familiarity with Google’s suite of services is a plus.
-Must be able to lift 50lbs
-College degree helpful, but not required with sufficient experience.

The Studio Technician/Coordinator is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of kilns, wheels, and other studio equipment. (S)he will be responsible for kiln firings and safety, as well as the supervising and training of residents on the same. Cleanliness is very important. (S)he will be responsible for setting and maintaining a firing schedule. The Studio Technician/Coordinator will assist the Studio Manager is material inventorying, organizing and ordering. (S)he will also assist the Studio Manager in standard studio operations.

The Department of Visual Arts at the University of Regina invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Studio Art, at the rank of Assistant Professor, to commence July 1, 2011. The successful candidate should be a highly qualified practitioner with an MFA or other terminal degree. Candidates should have expertise in a range of contemporary approaches to art making, the ability to contribute to the delivery of undergraduate and graduate teaching in Visual Arts as well as to interdisciplinary initiatives within the Faculty of Fine Arts. An active record of research dissemination is essential. The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach art foundations, and courses in at least two of the following areas: ceramics, digital imaging, intermedia, professional issues, and sculpture. Skills in the use of digital tools will be considered an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to administration and committee work in the Department, Faculty and University and to teaching and research within the Faculty of Fine Arts.
The Department of Visual Arts at the University of Regina is a comprehensive program with majors specializing in ceramics, drawing, intermedia, painting, print-media, sculpture, art history and cultures of display. The Alberta College of Art + Design is one of only four publicly funded Canadian post-secondary institutions devoted exclusively to the advanced education of visual artists and designers. The college has recently entered into a vital new phase in its development and embraced a new mandate and vision that endorse a model of the institution as a laboratory for experimentation and as a catalyst for cultural development and creative inquiry into the arts and emergent cultural fields.
The college welcomes applications for the upcoming 2011 – 2012 academic year for the position of: Visiting Artist/Instructor – Ceramics (Competition 1011-JA-FT-30)
Nine (9) month appointment – over two (2) semesters from August 25, 2011 to May 31, 2012. This position has been an integral part of the Ceramics program for over 20 years and is currently funded under the ACAD Rawlinson Visiting Faculty Program made possible by the generous donation of the Jill Rawlinson Fund. To complement existing instructional resources, the Visiting Artist in Ceramics will instruct a total of four (4), six (6) hour long studio courses at all levels of the undergraduate BFA in Ceramics program and will be expected to participate in Ceramics program activities and administrative workload. The Visiting Artist will receive remuneration (on a prorated-basis) in line with the salary of a full time instructor teaching a two course per semester load and will be provided with a generous studio space within the Ceramics facility. Firing and glazing materials will also be provided. The Visiting Artist will be expected to maintain an active personal research/studio practice during the time at ACAD and will be invited to mount a solo exhibition/presentation of her/his research/studio practice at the college in April 2012. The successful candidate will have: a significant professional exhibition record and recognition as a ceramist, an MFA or an equivalent degree or combination of education and professional experience in ceramics, substantial teaching experience at the post secondary level, excellent technical skills and a wide knowledge of all aspects of the discipline with a particular regard for the international ceramics profession. Craft NI is now inviting proposals for its annual, selected exhibitions programme 2011-12 from craftspeople, designer-maker, curators, craft networks and retail outlets.
The Craft NI gallery is a showcase platform for displays and exhibitions of quality contemporary craft. Through an annually selected exhibitions programme, Craft NI offers year round access to displays and exhibitions of quality contemporary craft in the centre of Belfast. The ground floor gallery is housed in the historic Cotton Court building, a former Bonded Warehouse and is conveniently located opposite the Merchant Hotel in the heart of
Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter.
Each year Craft NI invites designer-makers, craftspeople, curators, craft organisations and retail outlets to submit exhibition proposals for an annual programme of exhibitions at the gallery. Normally, exhibitions run for two months. A craft curator selects exhibitions on the basis of proposals submitted to Craft NI and on our general quality criteria. Work will be selected for display by an independent panel on the basis of the exhibition proposal and Craft NI’s general quality criteria.
By this, Craft Northern Ireland means contemporary work that:
- extends practice as well as ensuring high standards of technical skill and design;

- reflects the signature of the individual maker and demonstrates investigation of processes and critical enquiry.
