Grants available to American guilds
The
Arts Business Institute introduces a new Guild Partner Grant program.
President Obama has made micro-manufacturing start-ups one of his
priorities for the next four years.
ABI has researched all of
the job training and entrepreneurship grants available through the
government and is now prepared to assist your local guild or arts
organization in creating an “Access to Market” program for guild
members.
The program includes a 2 day workshop, private
one-on-one critiques and production advice, matching funds for guild
booth exhibits at the Buyers Market. Grants up to $50,000 for a 2 year
program.
Call or email Wendy Rosen 410.262.2872 [email protected]. November 30 is the deadline for this 2013 cycle. http://www.artsbusinessinstitute.org/about/curriculum/

technical tuesday: How to… Make and adjust casting slip.

image via http://www.tokoname.or.jp/teapot/making/makepot2.htm |
Since I slipcast for some of my functional wares as well as for my sculptures I often get asked about how to best make casting slip. Since I am no expert and in fact over the years have become sadly very lazy with my mixing process (or maybe it’s just that i’ve made so much i can do it all by sight and estimation skills? Yup that must be it….) I thought that having a good link to some real research and information would be of benefit. So enjoy How to… Make and adjust casting slip via Laguna Clay.
