A.I.R. Vallauris: Artists in Residence, Vallauris France www.air-vallauris.org Located in the heart of the old town of Vallauris, on the French Riviera, the association A.I.R. Vallauris (Artists in Residence) welcomes international artists from all horizons to meet and collaborate with local artists and to research and create new work in an artistic laboratory created specifically for them. The Association has four primary objectives:
To host resident international artists
To support contemporary creation
to provide eduation in the field of Ceramic Arts
to organize cultural events Created in October 2001, the Association A.I.R. Vallauris, since April 2002, welcomes several artists at a given time in its residence and studios available to the artists. There are several different residency periods to choose from, and the durations vary. The creators using different mediums benefit from an equipped studio, independent furnished bedrooms and a gallery where their works are presented at the end of the residency period. The quality of the artistic creation is one of the major concerns or the program; the selection committee evaluates applicants based on their artistic experience, merit and project proposal. Since April 2002, over 130 creators of 30 different nationalities have taken part in the program. The Association encourages and facilitates interaction between local artists and international artists. Workshops, conferences, demonstrations exhibitions are organized with the resident artists. These events are open to the public. Through partnerships with the local School of Fine Arts, the local government, and international organizations a sensibility of exchange between the public, artists, and international is realized. APPLICATIONS FOR RESIDENCE ————————– Applications for residencies are accepted throughout the year with deadlines being the first day of each month. Applications are reviewed, scheduled and confirmed during the first week of each month. We recommend you submit your application as early as possible as your submission date may be taken into consideration for time-slot selection priority. The sUgAR Gallery in Bentonville, AR, is seeking submissions for a juried, contemporary craft exhibit. Regional and national entries are accepted. All work should exemplify excellence in craft, including but not limited to pottery and ceramics, basket weaving, painting, weaving and textile arts, woodcarving, jewelry and glass blowing. The juror is Leo Mazow, PhD., Associate Professor of Art History at the University of Arkansas and former Curator of American Art at the Palmer Museum of Art at The Pennsylvania State University. The sUgAR Gallery is a student-run collaboration between the Departments of Architecture, Art, Landscape Architecture and Interior Design at the University of Arkansas. This progressive gallery facilitates new opportunities for the University of Arkansas’ visual art, architecture and design community to connect directly with Northwest Arkansas’ creative industry. – A maximum of 3 works, two images per work for a total of 6 images on a CD
– All works must be original, created within the last two years, and not exceed 60” in any dimension
– Images should be 300 dpi, minimum 4” x 6” in .jpeg format
– Files should be labeled with artist’s last name and title of work
– CD should be labeled with artist’s name and contact information (including email) and include an inventory list (with prices) and artist statement as separate files
– Accepted work should be exhibit-ready, with appropriate hardware for display
– Artists are responsible for shipping to and from the exhibition
– The sUgAR Gallery takes a 20% commission on sales with all proceeds funding future exhibits at the gallery

There will be five openings in the program for 2012. Applications must be postmarked no later than Friday, September 16, 2011. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
The Penland Core Fellowship Program offers emerging artists the opportunity to explore artistic interests and career possibilities in a supportive artistic community. The program takes advantage of Penland’s ever-changing, interdisciplinary learning environment and encourages students to develop their studio work while studying with top instructors in ten craft media. Unlike a residency, this fellowship is designed around Penland’s total immersion workshop experience. Students fully participate in classes throughout spring, summer, and fall. This unique program can serve as a bridge between under-graduate and graduate studies, offer a self-motivated alternative to academic programs, or prepare students for a professional career as an artist/craftsperson. In culmination of a season of study, core students participate in the annual Core Show, a group exhibition of work completed throughout the year. This program is a work/study fellowship that offers students an opportunity to participate in classes and be an integral part of the Penland community. Core students are employees of the school with compensation consisting of a modest stipend, room, board, and tuition. Core students are chosen for one to two years, continuing on to a second year after a positive review at the end of the first.

CeRCCa Self-directed Artist Residency CeRCCa opens its program to artists, critics, researchers and curators interested in participating in self-directed residencies in Llorenç del Penedes, a quiet village located one hour outside of Barcelona and 10 minutes drive to the sea. The physical development of specific projects is not required during the residency at CeRCCa. Self-directed residencies aim to facilitate a space for research, experimentation, meeting and discussion to implement artistic and curatorial projects. Individuals who apply can live and work in the space for a maximum of two months and a minimum of two weeks. CeRCCa is able to host individuals or groups of 4 people maximum. The periods available for Self-Directed Residencies are: 10th October – 10th November 2011 or 10th March – 10th June 2012 They accept applications on ongoing basis. Applicants should clearly indicate their preferred length of stay and scope of activity. Selected applicants will be notified via email. Facilities CeRCCa offers three to four individual double bed rooms, two shared bathrooms, kitchen, library, 40 sq m studio, patio, and wireless internet. For proposals that require production workshops and or other equipment, CeRCCa will initiate the necessary contacts. CeRCCa offers guidance in finding additional funding for projects and will provide acceptance letters. Costs The residency studio is available for a fee of 500 euros a month or 270 euros for 15 days. Applicants are responsible for all transportation costs to and from the residency and regional travel, daily expenses, including food and funding for their project, materials, all daily living expenses, including food and medical expenses.
