BECA is an acronym for Bridge for Emerging Contemporary Art and the core belief system at The BECA Foundation is that “New art + new design fuels the best of what’s yet to come on this planet.” With a growing international BECA network now numbered just above 30,000, it is more important than ever for BECA to ensure that in addition to hosting the physical exhibition, the exhibition also be made available online at www.BECAICAD.org for those who are unable to attend in person. The exhibition remains online at www.BECAICAD.org in perpetuity for members of the public as well as journalists, writers, curators, collectors, gallery and studio directors in the US and abroad. In addition, our outreach efforts extend well beyond our own growing BECA network. This extended outreach results in the exposure of exhibiting artist’s + designer’s work to an estimated 750,000 members of the local, regional, national and international art + design communities.

A site 2 see friday – Prairie Excellence

From the site:

“Prairie Excellence is a unique and ground-breaking joint project of the Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta Craft Councils. The competition and exhibition, accompanied by awards, a catalogue, a website, and a multi-province tour, involved several years of idea generation, negotiation, planning, fundraising, administration, shipping and handling, photography, design and other duties by boards, staff and volunteers from all three councils. It entailed the participation of more than 160 craft artists across three provinces. Indeed, there were a few occasions when the entire idea seemed simply too much. But the risk and the work of countless people paid off.”

Opening this Friday – Role Play @ the Sk Craft Council

Be there… or, well…be somewhere else I guess…but this opening is totally worth checking out. I might be slightly bias though : )

Role Play
Exhibition runs – Fri, Oct 1, 2010 » Sun, Nov 14, 2010

OPENING *** Friday, October 8 · 7:00pm – 9:30pm

Ceramic artists; Robin Lambert, Carole Epp and Jody Greenman-Barber, challenge our notions of contemporary ceramic based craft practice by merging their individual approaches to making craft.

This exhibition brings together the work of three emerging ceramic artists, all with ties to Saskatchewan, into a “conversation” through their objects about the role of art/craft.
