12-SU-WK39 Artist Workshop with Jimmy Clark

four day workshop is designed to dispel the notion that pinching is
merely a beginner’s technique. Students will explore numerous
variations on the method including creating large forms, working
intuitively, exploring asymmetrical forms, incorporating found objects,
burnishing and applying terra sigilatta. The pieces will then be smoke
fired at Cheltenham Art Center. Smoke firing is a process in which
bisqued pots are buried in sawdust and smoldered overnight in a kiln.
This results in random and unpredictable smoke patterns on the pots’
surfaces. *The workshop takes place on the 21st and 22nd at The Clay
Studio, and on the 4th and 5th at Cheltenham Art Center. Please call
Sara Gallo, School Coordinator at 215-925-3453 x23 for more details. |

greenware. Some basic tiles will be provided by The Clay Studio for the
