The New Harmony Clay Project Residency Program fosters an environment that supports the investigation of new ideas and work of ceramic artists. Our goal is to encourage emerging and professional visual artists/educators in ceramics by giving them space and the time to develop a new body of work. The program offers a unique and stimulating experience that will challenge individuals to integrate new discoveries into their expressions.
The program is offered from September-April of each year. Residents have the opportunity to select a flexible residency time frame that accommodates their schedules-from one up to six month periods. We provide studio space for up to four artists at a time and reasonable materials commonly used when working with clay. We also help offset costs incurred by the artist(s) with a monthly stipend and provide housing with a private room and shared bathroom for the duration of the residency period. There are rolling deadlines and no application fee, so apply today!

Artist and ocean advocate Courtney Mattison hand-sculpted “Our Changing Seas II: An Atlantic & Caribbean Coral Reef Story” – a large ceramic coral reef sculptural installation inspired by reefs of the Western Atlantic and Caribbean and the human-caused threats they face – in her “Inland Sea Studio” in Denver, CO. The piece was commissioned by the Nova Southeastern University Oceanographic Center for permanent installation in the entryway of its Center of Excellence for Coral Reef Ecosystems Research in Dania Beach, FL in 2013.
