Well i must admit i’ve been procrastinating for quite some time setting up an online shop. I’ve gone back and forth seemingly forever trying to decide if it’s the right path for me as I normally work with galleries and shops. But after getting more and more tired of forking over 40-50% of my sale price to someone else, i’ve decided an online shop might be worth the effort. From the looks of things it’s been a fairly sucessful path for others so here goes – fingers crossed – wish me luck!
Sooo…..You can now find me at caroleepp.etsy.com
Please check back regularly as i’ll be posting more items over the next few weeks, there’s more porcelain to come and even some woodfired pieces…I hope you like it and please feel free to pass the link on to anyone you think might enjoy the work.
I’ll try and post in the future about how things are going in case anyone else is wondering about how to go about it, or if it’s worth your time or not. In the meantime I’d love to hear from others about their online experiences, good or bad. Please leave a comment.
Thanks and all the best!
we have also recently set up an etsy shop,www.smilingcowpottery.etsy.com no luck yet but it’s only been up a short while…

I set up my shop last May, but really didnt start inputting inventory until fall of 08. Having no other outlet to sell my work Etsy has been wonderful for me. Other shops and galleries have found me that way and in the next few weeks I will be launched into three retail stores and a museum. All from Etsy! So I’m sure you will do even better! 🙂

Also – A big trick I learned was to spread out how often and when you post new items into your store. The longer and more varried you take at uploading new work the more people will find you.
Thanks for the advice Niki, that was a major question for me was how much should i post and how often to add new stuff. It’s hard to resist adding a bunch all at once as i feel customers should have a good selection to chose from, but to put everything on from the get go…well it’ll look like nothing has changed for a very loooong time! : ) It’s nerve racking…it’s a very public way to market your work and I feel a bit vulnerable as though everyone can see if the endeavor is a failure! Man i sound neurotic! : )
And Zack, that’s awesome you guys are on there as well. I didn’t know as I didn’t see you when i searched by location. Are you guys not listed as in Sask?
