Treasures of Chinese Porcelain (2011)
In
November 2010, a Chinese vase unearthed in a suburban semi in Pinner
sold at auction for £43 million – a new record for a Chinese work of
art. Why are Chinese vases so famous and so expensive? The answer lies
in the European obsession with Chinese porcelain that began in the 16th
century.

hey carol,
great movie (haven't gotten all the way through yet). not sure if you've read this book or not "The Arcanum". it chronicles the monarchies' attempts to formulate porcelain in europe using alchemists. it reads like a modern espionage story. thought you might be interested if you haven't read it already.
We really enjoyed this movie, in part, because we spent a month in JDZ in 2006. See our website if you want to see images of that trip. http://www.selfridgeceramicart.ca Regards, Carol and Richard Selfridge.
