Sculpture Space NYC to open July 15th in Long Island City, New York, currently supporting crowdfunding artist residency applications.

July 13, 2014 – New York City,
NY:
Sculpture
Space NYC is opening its doors July 14th
and is currently welcoming ongoing artist
residency applications, for project specific or research based projects. To
assist artists in finding funding for fees, Sculpture Space NYC encourages and
supports applicants to use crowdfunding sites (RocketHub, Indiegogo,
Kickstarter, etc.) as part of the application process.
Sculpture
Space NYC wants to create a space that enables artists from all of over the
world to work side by side, creating a dynamic mix of visual language and
cultural practice. There are two different types of
residencies: one for artist’s interested in expanding their practice through
research and development (expand
residency
) and artist’s who are proposing a specific project for a
commission or exhibition (aim residency).
For
application guidelines email Magda at [email protected]; once accepted, applicants will
have our endorsement and can use our facilities to create their campaign. The
applications are ongoing, giving artists the flexibility to work the residency
into their own schedule.
Sculpture
Space NYC also offers membership opportunities.

podcast thursdays: Humans of New York

Chase Jarvis Live
Brandon Stanton- Humans of New York
“Listen in as photographer/director Chase Jarvis explores
art, creativity, and popular culture through his experiences and collaborations
with visionary creatives from around the world. “
I recommend starting with the Brandon Stanton episode. As
the creator of the Humans of New York project he set out to take 10,000
pictures in one year and ended up creating an Internet sensation. In the
interview he talks about his man-on-the-street interview style, his New York Times best selling book, and the art of
crafting a good question. He says of the project, “ If there is one thing that
I use as a gauge of how good a Humans of New York post is, its honesty, its
just honesty…Its not honesty versus lying, its honesty versus concealment. “
And please don’t forget that Ben Carter’s Kickstarter ends tomorrow. Please show him support for all the amazing work he does on the Tales of the Red Clay Rambler! Support Season 3 NOW!!!
