I saw this on pinterest the other day. Below is the description that came with the image. (sorry no source) Any one try this? I’ve never personally had an issue with the dipping tongs but some might.
The mesh holds a bit of glaze and when you release after dipping, it runs to the spots that were dry and seals the surface. I’ve always HATED dipping tongs and the bite marks they leave behind.
I have not tried this yet but I hate the cheap tongs, the ones that are made from channel lock pliers are great. I do have one thought about these, you're still putting your fingers into a bucket of heavy metals so you want to think about how much exposure you are comfortable with your skin having.
Great idea. I have a hard time hanging on to a heavy piece with tongs while dipping.. not sure where to get mesh that just slips on fingers..but good thought.
What do we ask for when we go to get some mesh? Where do we go?
Am going to make some using the mesh bag from a turkey..just stitch the far side. Hoping it works. Yes.. have dropped too many pieces in the glaze when trying to use tongs.
The meat comes from the store where you buy wine.
These are called “Fingerdips” – google for a supplier (Bisqueimports.com in the US is one). I bought some and tried them – they are OK but I found can still leave a mark – I find my tongs easier to use but everyone is different
