Art of the Pot 2014

Are you ready….The
AotP Studio Tour is this week!  As artists around the country are
finishing up their work for our tour we wanted to give you a few more
details about our busy week ahead.
Lecture & Demonstration Added-  
NCECA Emerging Artist and Art of the Pot guest Renee Brown will be in Austin to present a lecture and demonstration to Greater Austin Clay Artists (GACA).
Thursday May 8, 2014 from 7-9pm
Location:
 St Edwards Ceramics Studio.  She will recap her lecture given at this
year’s national conference, and demonstrate her soft forming process as
well as the application of her colorful marbleized engobe.  Free and
open to the public.  
VIP Collector’s Preview Tour-
We have a few tickets left for the always popular Bus Tour on Friday May 9th from 5:30-10pm.  Info and tickets here.
AotP Studio Tour- 
As always, the Studio Tour is free and open to the public on Saturday May 10th from 10am-5pm and Sunday May 11th from 1pm-5pm. AotP Host artists will be opening up their studios at 4 destinations across Austin.  Delicious food and beverage companion events are returning to each studio location throughout the weekend!

Kiln Building Workshop with Martin Tagseth and Robin Dupont

This summer Martin Tagseth and Robin DuPont will combine their kiln
building and wood firing experience to lead a two week anagama kiln
building workshop in British Columbia’s Slocan Valley beginning July
21st.

With a focus on hands on construction experience, this intensive
workshop with also include discussions of kiln design and atmospheric
firing techniques. Students are invited to bring bisque-ware to partake
in the inaugural firing immediately following construction of the kiln.

(Dates may be adjusted to accommodate kiln construction and firing times)
July 20th Welcome BBQ
July 21st – 27th Kiln Building Workshop
July 28th – Aug 3rd Kiln Firing
Aug 9-10th Kiln Unloading

Course Fee
Workshop Fee is $495 (does not include housing or meals).
Firing Fee $100 (Students must bring bisque-ware).

Location
This workshop will take place at the home & studio of Robin DuPont
in the Slocan Valley, near Winlaw B.C. This beautiful winding river
valley is known for its creative culture and offers visitors pristine
beaches, wildlife sanctuaries, world class recreational opportunities
and breath taking scenery.

Other Information
• Class size is limited. Space will be reserved on a first come basis
upon receipt of non-refundable $100 deposit. Balance of workshop fee is
due two weeks prior to course start date.
• Accommodations and Meals are not included in the course fee.
